Default PACQUIAO – THE BEST IN THE WORLD?

Here are some excerpt of the story:

"The Ring’s esteemed editor-in-chief and a good friend Nigel Collins, went one step further and told us last Thursday that another dominant display by Pacquiao against legendary Mexican Marco Antonio Barrera in their rematch at the Mandalay Bay Resort Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada on October 6 “could conceivably push Manny into the No.1 position in the Ring Magazine’s pound-for-pound ratings.”

    ---
The WBC president in a conversation with James Blears of the widely-read boxingscen.com said “many of the new heroes are stepping down and leaving the sport. They’re getting old. So boxing has to protect the performance of the heroes until the time of new heroes come. That is our obligation.”

While conceding that Mayweather was to him “the best pound-for-pound as a boxer” Sulaiman stressed that the best pound-for-pound in “excitement, passion, tension and aggressiveness” is Pacquiao.
    ----

    ---
In his Ringside editorial for the March 2007 issue of Ring Magazine, Collins wrote “although they are unquestionably two of the sport’s finest practitioners (referring to Mayweather and Pacquiao) when it comes to providing entertainment, ‘Pac-Man” is so far ahead of ‘Pretty Boy’ they’re not even in the same league.”

Mayweather is the best no doubt.

I agree with the issue on skill. Mayweather may be able to beat Hatton but according to the news if he defeats Hatton by decision (something like that), he will surely go down from the Ring's p4p ratings.

Fucking garbage. P4P in excitement? Gimme a break. I love Pac but Floyd is the best fighter in the sport and anyone who says otherwise is either extremely biased or has no idea what boxing is about.

How exciting a guy is or if he's knocking guys out shouldn't have anything to do with rankings. Its about winning, skill and quality of opposition. If Floyd beats Hatton (be it a 1st round KO or a boring decision) and drops from #1, the Ring's rankings will lose all credibility.

Why's that ?? Hatton is tough guy and is 43-0 and has won world titles in 2 weight divisions i find it hard for anyone to rate Mayweather lower in there rankings if he beat Hatton convincely by a decision that imo would be stupid whoever done that.

Only people who would do that are the people that don't know there boxing or are just plain haters.

Exactly. For Floyd to win a decision over Hatton 43-0 Ricky Hatton, who seems to be in his prime and looked incredible in his last fight, would be much more impressive than Pac beating the shit out of Barrera, who he already KO'd once and hasn't looked very impressive in his last couple of fights. Barrera is on the downside of his career, Hatton is in his prime.

Let's wait what Pacstraight and Penalosafan say about this.

As pacman fans, there will be great rejoicing in our camp if this happens.

If Manny looks brilliant against MAB,he goes to the top imo UNTIL Mayweather Hatton,in which case,as long as Mayweather does not look bad,he goes back to number 1.

Manny's been there done that i don't see how beating a fading Barrera again would rank him number 1.

Floyds been tearing through compedition since like 96. Never lost a fight. Pac lost to an aging Morales just 2 years ago.

i say if manny takes marco out he retains no. 2 then if pbf performs poorly that's the time they exchange places at the top.

and that's coming from a true blue pac fan.

Tearing through opposition? Oh you mean Sharmba,Gatti? Who has he faced at 147 or 140 that is more accomplished/better than even this aged version of MAB?? DOn't get me wrong,Mayweather is certainly P4P number 1 right now.
