Now, as much as I think it would be waste of time, it would make a certain sense, as McCline is the other guy still standing after the wbc freak show these past weeks.
I checked the WBC top 15 just for fun, as I guess any potentially sanctioned opponent should be there (neither McCline or Ruiz are here btw).
2. Vladimir Virchis - EBU champ, rated top 7 by all alp belts. Good choice. 23-1 (only loss Chagaev).
3. Oliver McCall - Unavailable
4. Hasim Rahman - Why? Why not?
5. Juan Carlos Gomez - Unavailable
6. Nicolay Valuev - Unavailable
7. Alexander Dimitrenko - rated dy all 4 org, but unknown and unproven. Still good choice though. 26-0.
8. Donnell Holmes - Who? 27-0-2. But undefeated Americans look good on paper.
9. Alexander Povetkin - Unavailable.
10. David Tua - Has a fight lined up in October, but why not? Would attract some interest, and probably more risky than, say, McCline anyway.
11. Calvin Brock - Seems to have fallen off everyone's radar, but at least Peter himself must believe there can be life after Klitschko.
12. Chris Arreola - Too soon after recent fight? Too soon in, well, general?
13. Chris Byrd - Unavailable
14. Michael Moorer - It would be a bit sad, but he is still younger than Holyfield and McCall though.
15. JD Chapman - Who? Also has a fight scheduled in october. But 27 (24) -0 looks good on paper.
