Thread: Jermaine Taylor?????

i'm content with jermaine losing. my main question that i find disturbing is that kelly was in serious trouble in the second round. I thought that the stoppage of taylor was too early. sure, taylor got caught but the ref did not even allow taylor to fall to the ground and see if the champ could beat the count. The next week i'm watching samuel peters get dropped 4 times and i couldn't help but wondering if taylor could get. i'm just saying that the ref should have not rushed in right away.

It was Taylor's mistake not the refferie. Smoger is known for giving fighters a chance to recover.

Taylor made the mistake of getting trapped in the corner in a way that he couldn't even go down. The ropes kept him from falling backwards and Pavlik's pounches kept him from falling forward. He took at least three hard shots to the head before Steve jumped in. I think it was a good stoppage.

The way Taylor was slumped in the corner I dont think be was getting up any how. If he did I'm sure he would have been sent back down soon enough as Pavlik seemed to have a lot of energy left and Taylor was slowing down.

But I think the only difference if Smoger didnt jump in to stop it is that Pavlik wouldve won by KO instead of TKO.

It was early...it was his body action.

Taylor was gone. When they got him up...he was still gone. Smoger is known for lettin shit go on too long sometimes...he was right to stop it. Taylor was hammered.

He still didn't have his wits about him after they stood him up.

Pavlik was down but still functioning & when in the corner he was coherent...more so than Taylor.

Huh ?? Taylor was getting battered the two straight right hands that set it up were brutal and shots in corner were just as bad the uppercuts and left hook damn they were nasty Taylor slumped into the corner he was out of it Taylor didn't complain about stoppage so why are you ??

Some refs would have stopped the fight in the second but that wouldn't be right, not sure though why the final stoppage would be criticized, just look at Taylor's reaction after the final left hook, he was out. I mean has anybody from Taylor's side even criticized the stoppage?

I think Smoger could have just told Kelly to go to the corner and attempted a 10 count, and then waved it off. But really, Taylor was basically a puppet with the strings cut, and wouldn't have gotten up if he counted to 30. If Smoger wouldn't have stopped it, alot of people may have criticised him for letting it go. He was fixing to stop it anyways before Taylor fell down, but when he saw him falling it just sealed it for him probably. Pavlik immediately got up after his knockdown.

If Taylor himself didn't complain about stoppage or Manny or Taylor's team then why are you complaining about it ?? Taylor didn't know where he was it would of been dangerous if Taylor could of somehow got up and been allowed to of continued Smoger done an excellent job.

Some refs wouldve stopped both fights. Taylor could have still been middleweight champ and Mcline could've upset peter and set the hw divison back a couple years.


But all is well that ends well. I thought both refs did a good job letting both fights go on. Goes to show what an early stoppage can do. There is a thin line between stopping a fight too early and too late.

back the way i see it Taylor still has his health which he might of not had if the fight would of been allowed to of continued he fought an excellent fight in a classic fight and now can warrant a rematch i don't know why some people are actually saying the stoppage was premature all you have to do is look at slow replay and watch Taylor's head being turned around from a right hand and also watch his head being snapped back from an uppercut he stayed up for aslong as he could but his body couldn't take no more and he slumped into the corner excellent stoppage from Smoger.

Maybe it's just me, but the worst punch he took was that last left hook that jerked him and really put him in lala land. I know those 1st rights hurt him, and the big right uppercut really started the lights-out, but damage wise, serious long term damage, could arguably come from that devastating left hook. No way he could have gotten back in that fight, and if he had, he could have been permanently damaged. Like you said, he has his health, and nothing in life is as important as that.

Look at it like this...Taylor left the ring immediately after his sitting session with the doc & being knocked out, he didn't want to talk to Merchant nor did he want the fans to see how fwocked he was...& believe you me...he was.

Watch the match again & watch the last round & then him gettin out of the ring. Taylor was bumfuzzled.

The win was a HUGE upset victory...no doubt...but I did lose a bit more respect for Taylor after he bolted. Pavilk’s win came based on the fact that he showed a shitload of durability & guts.

After Merchant got finished with Kelly he went backstage to interview Taylor & Jermain's excuse was that he had spent too much in that one round & that cost him the fight.

That's horse shit anyway you step in it or over it. Taylor says he expended too much energy? Pavlik busted his ass up over 7 & Taylor has never NEVER felt adversity like that...not from Hopkins or Wright & it was due to the fact that Kelly's young & ready to roll with it. He didn't back up & Taylor has no clue how to handle that.

He then says Pavlik had “pretty good power” & that he wanted an immediate rematch.

That shit kinda changed in the morning or whenever the actual presser was & so did Manny's jibes about Pavlik being limited.
