    Default Valero opponent named!

22-year-old Juan Carlos Salgado (18-0-1, 13 KOs) of Mexico will challenge WBA super featherweight champion Edwin Valero (22-0, 22 KOs) on December 15 in Cancun, Mexico. Salgado, who trains at the Pancho Rosales Gym in Mexico City and is managed by Ricardo Maldonado, was selected over "Lacandon" Cruz, "Coloradito" Solis and Guty Espadas Jr. to get the title shot.

Some don't quite realise but this guy is special, one night someone will probably outbox him, but he'll be delivering drama until someone steps up. When you hit that hard, you can be down 11-0 and still win in the 12th.

Agreed. Maybe the title should have been "Re: Valero opponent...another no named!"

    Poor Valero. :P

Valero has a lot to prove hes robotic and slow . not sure his power will count as much against the elite fighters but we will see , at least he is exciting

I remember Salgado. He fought Marcos Licona on the under card of Morales-Pacquiao 3. He came in as a hot prospect, but disappointed severely. He was not impressive at all. It looked like he needed a lot to learn. I'm shocked that they would put him in there against Valero at this stage in his career. I give Salgado very little chance. I think I'll be a replay of Daniel Ponce De Leon-Rey Bumtista. I see Valero taking him out early

Valero reminds me of an old version of Pacquiao.

Great news. Valero is great to watch. How American TV haven't signed him to an HBO deal with his KO power is beyond me. There again...I heard the suits didn't like Ponce De Leon for a while...

HBO won't pick him up because he can't fight in America, because of medical reasons.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

Yeah, it's good that he's exciting, because many would ignore him. He's special alone, by just being exciting consistently.

I don't think he looks robotic at all. His speed isn't up there. I've seen him move faster against Morales in sparring, but as far as his live fights in Japan, he's slow as swamp thing... whatever that means. :P

But he won a title the right way, in the ring, and he beat a fellow young, tough, and hungry fighter, just like himself.... at his home turf. Valero went into a young, prime, lion's den and won from getting off the canvas.

There's nothing more I can say... he's special and deserves all this attention on the net.

Hopefully he'll get his chance. If he keeps winning and being exciting... he will.
