THE biggest night of boxing in Manchester's history has turned into a blockbuster with the news that Jamie Moore will fight for the European light-middleweight title on December 8.

Moore's clash with unbeaten Russian fighter Zaurbek Baysangurov in Wigan is on the same night as Amir Khan's Commonwealth lightweight title defence against Graham Earl at Bolton Arena.

Just a few hours later, Ricky Hatton will take on Floyd Mayweather Jnr in Las Vegas, and Moore's fight will top the bill in the British half of an all-night Sky Sports programme.

Khan reacted by predicting a "wicked" hat-trick for Greater Manchester boxing.

The clash poses a problem for Salford trainer Oliver Harrison, who looks after both Moore and Khan.

But rival promoters Frank Warren and Frank Maloney are expected to discuss fight timings which would allow Harrison a 20-minute dash along the M61 to be in the corner for both fights.

    Friends

"We are all going to sit down and sort something out," said Khan. "It's a shame in a way that we clash because I am usually ringside for Jamie's fights, and he is the same at mine, but that won't happen this time.

"I will get to see Ricky's fight on TV. A group of friends and I have hired a suite at a hotel near the arena so we can sit up and watch it live from Vegas.

"It should be a wicked night - and I think we will get a hat-trick on the night."

Moore has finally got the fight for which he has been longing for over two years, and endless defences of his British title, the latest when he stopped Andrew Facey in Wigan on Friday night.

Baysangurov will be Moore' sternest test yet. Twice a world amateur bronze medallist, the go-forward fighter from war-torn Chechnya has had a meteoric rise through the professional ranks since moving up from the amateur game in 2004.

He has quickly racked up 16 wins, 12 inside the distance, and took the vacant European title belt by out-pointing French fighter Hussein Bayram in Cologne in July.

Blimey, bit soon after the Facey fight isn't it?

Still what a great start to the Sky PPV.

I was thinking that myself, but maybe he needed that to dust off the cobwebs, i dont know much about his opponent, but from his record it looks like he can punch, im not going to make any predictions on this one.

Dunno how things work in England, but if they could incorporate Khan-Earl, Duddy-Eastman, Moore-Baysangurov, Elcock-Abraham and Hatton-Mayweather into one card it would look pretty damn impressive.

Huge, huge night for English boxing!

(Unfortunate though that there will be only 1 English winner - and 5 losers - but still!)

Baysangurov has a decent win over Rubio too. Looks a good fight.

It sure would. But there's zero chance of that happening. They're all under different promotions and on different TV stations.

Well. Even if you have to change the channels a few times, I'll remain a bit jealous...
