Default It's just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds : Guzman vs Soto

Once again it's time for another installment of Wacko's Drunken Round by Round courtesy of your friendly forum drinkin boxing scribe & HBO's Boxing After Dark!

For the past two months HBO has been spoiling us all with compelling match ups & "pick-em" fights...this weekend is no different.

The DRBR will be comin' atcha live Saturday night, Nov. 17th, 2007 at 9:45 p.m. from the Borgata Hotel Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

This weekend Boxing After Dark features the rize of Joan Guzman (27 wins with 17 ko's & no losses) defends his title for the 2nd or 3rd time as he faces Humberto Soto (51 fights, 43 wins with 27 ko's, 5 losses, & 2 draws) in a 12 round WBO sanctioned Super Featherweight event.

For those of you not in the know...Guzman is undefeated & also one of the most talked about up & coming fighters of the Super Featherweight division. Technically this is the fourteenth defense of a WBO title, as Guzman first commandeered the Super Bantam title almost 6 years ago. Guzman has faced some tuff customers on his rise to the top & history will once again repeat itself tonight...but this time he faces his tuffest test against the experienced & scrappy Soto.

While I have followed Guzman for about the last 2 years or so...I don't think that that gives me a huge wealth of knowledge to post from...& I aint pulling my answers out of my ass or off of online dictionary data banks...so I'll just leave it at this...

Guzman is a hell of a fighter. He's young, determined, & rather heavy handed. This should be a smoker of a fight...based on his abilities alone.

Soto is a serious customer by his own rights. He's undefeated in either his last 19 or 20 fights. While I do respect the man...I say that Guzman will be too much for him.

Other than that...that's all I got for ya's.

Input from Guzman fan's is most definently welcome...so have at it. I'm sure we'll all be in for another ride courtesy of HBO & these amazing match ups that they continue to push on us.

That being said...I'd like to thank everyone in advance for once again signing on to saddo's & being a part of the community & for also being a part of this great big tradition that we have all effectionally dubbed...The Drunken Round by Round.

Whether you be sober or not...your'e still a part of it & you all make it what it is & continues to be...tip top of the pile.

You bwoy's pat yourselves on the back, you deserve the praise. After that...let's all just kick back & relax because fight night is just around the corner.

Toss the remote, settle down into your favorite chair or just pick your spot on the couch, pour up your poison of choice or pop a can open, break out the chips & salsa...it's time for yet another installment of Wacko's Drunken Round by Round.

    Oh...as always...cheers & koneecheewah bitches.

right back. As for a KO...I don't know about that...but I think that he'll scrap out a win. Soto's pretty tuff.

I might as well go with Soto, so that's my pick. I just don't know but I will stick with this kat to win. How's that for a prediction? Lol. Very excited about this one. CC Wack Attack!!

Guzman fights well off the ropes but Soto puts so much pressure on opponents,I just see Soto's pressure being too mcuh(I used to think guzman would win, until, well, today! :P )

i think Guzman takes this one by decision. He is very skilled and talented but i can't forget Soto. he has shown that he has improved a hell of alot over the years and is one bad SOB.
i guess I'm a little undecided in which way I'm going for but my gut says Guzman by decision.

    CC Wack Attack

    thanks again as always

Joan Guzman all the way, one of my favourite boxers to watch, incredible defence, guts, will to win and stunning combos. He lacks major power but apart from that he's amazingly well rounded. Soto is extremely tough and hits hard but I can see Guzman outpointing him pretty widely. I'm expecting a terrific fight though.

    My man, Dan.

Soto is tough as hell...but Guzman has all the smarts & power to put the ki-bosh on ole's Soto.

Well said my man, after December 8th I'm gonna have a serious boxing hangover, it's really gonna be shitty when all these fights are over, but what a ride it has been, Guzman v Soto is just as competitive and potentially explosive as Mosley v Cotto, they just ain't the big names, luckily for us fans in the know that don't matter too much.

Very well put Wack'o and have a CC from One of your rowdy house guest ahead of time. :P
Guzmans battle and win over Barrios really made me sit up straight so to speak with anticipation of his next fights indeed.I see him More polished and More well rounded than Soto and bigger shot for shot Banger.
That being said Im pulling big time for Soto in an all action fight. This battle is really not getting a major push in the bigger picture as it deserves Imo.We'll keep it Hot and do it justice no doubt ,A truly great match-up and another post fight late one on Bourbon Street.. .See ya ringside!
