    Default Houston Alexander

You've got to respect this guy just for who he is as a person but..well..he got badly exposed at UFC78 due to him having 0 ground game. I hope he goes away, works on it and comes back stronger because any guy that is a single dad looking after 6 kids all on his own deserves something.

Hell even Thiago Silva said in his interview with rogan that Alexander is a hero of his for raising 6 kids single handedly.

Like i say hopefully he will retun with some sort of ground game.

He's 36 or so,has been fighting for years and has not developed his ground game. It's most likely always going to be a weak point but I can see him coming back. His stand up is still dam good and I respect the man alot, for the father/kidney stuff and for his attitude. He wants to give the fans their $$$ worth. That's going to make him alot of $$$ back!

Hmm yeah. Like you say he is 35 and has no groud game so chances are it might be a little late. Maybe just train some crazy takedown defence and work on trying to keep the fight on its feet.

he is so physically strong though. You have to admit, the guy is fun to watch. I hope he comes back anyway.

Absolutely. Whenever I hear the name Houston Alexander,I'm going to watch the fight, regardless of whom it is against. This guy could become the Arturo Gatti of MMA,no matter where he is,who he's fighting, your going to watch him(although I hope he is more successful and takes less beatings than Gatti)

I also don't think there is any shame in him losing to Silva, who is a fine fighter.I mean it's quite scary,Silva has lots of stoppages, but his BJJ is his strong point?! Houston can take from the fact that he won't be fighting guys like Thiago all the time.

I'd say its a little late to get a good ground game, but MMA is full of guys whose ground game consists of only a great takedown defense and ability to stand the fight back up. Think of Mirko and Chuck. The guy is dynamic and can end a fight with one punch. If he can work with some top teams on his wrestling then he will be a player, maybe not top 5 material but a serious LHW player.

Shit, good points Van. When I was watching Chuck's career, you could count the number of times he had been taken down on 1 hand, heck Couture was finding it was hard to take him down,a dam fully fledged HW! Chuck's sprawls are awesome and if you manage to get him down,he'll be up again in a minute or so!

I was very impressed with his win over Jardine... I was like, holy shit, that guy can HIT....but I did NOT like the way he celebrated that victory...standing over Jardine and taunting him, etc. If he's a likable guy or a classy winner, IMO he didn't really show it that night.

Adrenaline does crazy stuff to you mate. He showed class straight after when he went over and hugged Jardine and thanked him for the fight.

    Good.

Now if he wants to fight again in the UFC he'll have to fight his way back there and prove he belongs in the UFC. Alexander hits very hard and everyone saw what Seth Petrizelli did to Kimbo so you would think Houston would try to KO Kimbo.

But instead he ran and kicked him in the knee...
