Just read this somewhere, sorry if there is a thread already but Rees is definitely looking like Hatton's number 1 choice.

I think this is a good fight for Hatton coming back from a defeat like he did against PBF as Rees is someone as he can easily beat and he also has a belt setting up a unification with Malignaggi or Witter in late 08.
poor Gavin Rees is all i can say. You see how buzzing he is that he's a world Champ, not for long
"It wasn't the night of the jab"
could be to watch for the couple of rounds it last, if Hattons looking at Rees defo needs to be a 3 fight year for Ricky.
I missed out "good" to watch sorry
Not according to Ray Hatton...

I hope he doesnt fight Rees. Hatton fights twice a year and so it should be big fights here on out.
If he was to fight more regularly then I wouldnt begrudge him picking up an easy belt....but there are bigger fish to fry.
Very smart choice for Hatton i wanted Hatton to fight Rees glad he is. Because not only will he get a World title beating the limited Rees, he will also get a lot of confidence back which is the more important.Originally Posted by El Gamo
I disagree Miles after you suffer an embarrassing KO loss you need your confidence back. And beating the limited Rees and picking up a belt is perfect for getting your confidence back. Remember you can have all the ability in the world but if you don't go into a fight without the right mentality/no confidence. Then it doesn't matter if your the next Sugar Ray Robinson your going to lose plain and simple. The mental part of Boxing is one of the most important things in boxing and is always overlooked.Originally Posted by miles
My issue is simply that Ricky has a shelf life of probably 5 more fights and Rees is not an opponent that will ever spring to mind when looking at a list of great achievements. The belt is irrelevant at this stage in Hattons career. Its about doing what you can with your time. If Hatton wants a warm up then he should get in shape and have one ASAP. A boxers shelf life is limited. Only so much time at that level for gimmee's.Originally Posted by Ice Cold Boxing
I would much prefer a fight with Malignaggi or even Witter. Much better excuses for 6 months off.
A fight with Rees is pretty meaningless, Gavin will lose to any decent fighter at 140. Fights with Torres, Hopkins or Holt will provide fr more credit and quality ring time

Rees doesnt deserve a shot at Ricky. All he ever did was beat a dreadful version of M'bay who basically just showed up and forgot how to fight.

Reguardless of who he fights it will be nice to see hatton back in the ring.

Rees vs Hatton would be rubbish Rees does'nt deserve a shot Hatton is a big girl he should just fight Witter and stop putting it off.
What a totally meaningless fight this would be I'm a big Hatton fan But I would not walk across the sreet to watch it they can hold it in a phone box & still have room for the crowd
