    Default a question about margarito

why is he still considered to be so good?

    and such a danger?
i mean i could be wrong so dont feel im insulting him and feel free to differ but i dont understand why everyone thinks he is a worthy opponent of a top fighter eg cotto and floyd.

i understand he is a volume puncher and a hard hitter, we all saw that against johnson who was shitting himself after he first got hit but who has he beaten? im a massive fan of clotty and i honestly believe if clottys hand didnt go he would of won the fight. in the first 3 or 4 rounds he was dominating magarito with his defense and left hooks, even if margarito gets better later in fights e.g v williams he didnt seem to have a gameplan. so from what i can see he only 100 beat cintron who i dont rate to highly anyway except for his power. i rate williams quite highly although i really thought for the first few rounds v sharmba he looked awful but like i said he is worthy of a shot at cotto or floyd i just dont see how margarito wins? even if he beats judah which i think he will, zab hasnt got 12 rounds in him nemore imo.

so why all the priase around him and why do most think floyd and cotto should fight him?

    Why all of the praise?

1.- Because he was the only man to put so much fear into Floyd's little heart with out ever having to step into the ring with him. Now Floyd has Tony, Cotto and Williams to fear. Why the phuk do you think Floyd flat out said "I am not calling out any Welter Weights."

I am not big on Tony but I know he is still a threat and a force to be reckoned with.

2.- Because the so called greatest of all times ducked him like the plague.
3.- He made the p4p king cry and forced Floyd to make up the "I am retiring nonsense".
4.- He turned Floyd into Porky Pig at the mention of his name. Tony Margarito.
5.- Floyd like a little biatch ran around asking: "Who is Tony Margarito?" Little did people know, Floyd had nightmares about Tony and in the middle of the night, Floyd would get up and go to the gym. This is where Floyd got the crazy habit of working out at crazy hours of the morning. Nightmares drove him to the gym courtesy of Tony Margarito.

PS. When you witness how Tony destroys Zab Judah, you will be able to understand why Tony is dangerous.

Caution we know that Judah maybe didnt recuperated yet of KO from Cotto, but What do yu think if Judah KO Margarito? you know that in boxing everything can happen, sometimes our stadistic dont fail ,but we have to think in that.

yea answer's 1-5 are all the same and none prove anything besides that you hate Mayweather, the main reason why Margarito is so praised, he had the balls to step up and defend his title against the likes of Joshua Clottey and Paul Williams when he could have easily dropped the title and taken a big name big bucks fight with Cotto, plus he has incredible heart, and showed against Williams, that he can give anyone problems (yes the fight was close), both fights against Clottey and Williams were high risk low reward fights, yet he took em both, and well not to mention, this one little prick that he took on a couple years ago, and basically raped the dude in the ring, well he's now the IBF welterweight champ, and he's the biggest chicken shit at 147 now lol

Can we put that tired Ohh my hand hurt so there for I was forced into a loss tripe away.Granted at least he did not role around on the canvas like a heart broken prom queen ala Cintron but Do not lose sight of the fact in that fight.....CLOTTEY LOST......MARGARITO WON.Should have, could have, maybe, might,if only,etc......etc.

Margarito to his own detrimate at times is a notorious slow starter,Clottey came in strong and started fast but when your in the buisness of hurt, you must deal with the pain.Tony was coming on regardless of Clotteys situation and you can make an atlas out of fighters that have had to deal with pre fight and in fight injuries and still managed to triumph.
Hes not a glory boy,Hes not a ego maniac ,No he surley is not a will o the wisp beautiful boxer but he is a honest solid all around fighter with a huge arsenal of angel punching in mass quantity. He has yet to be smacked around or soundly defeated (He was coming on strong mid way and late vs.Williams,in a very close fight to a freak of nature that seemingly no one else wants any part of)And yes,He lost.To me he belongs in the mix with any top tier guy,And if in fact he "does not belong" then they should have no problem walking through his rangy power and intensity,Good luck with that.Late for work...blame Saddo again

I am more interested in the Intangables that come along with margarito. When i watch him, i remember why im in love with the sport of boxing. He's gritty, tough, WILL BANG, and scared, well chinned. I haven't even gotten to his skill yet, but those attributes alone make me want to watch him.

I'd say pretty much any aggressive fighter can destroy Zab now. He's mentallly done....could see it in the Cotto fight.

He showed some heart against Cotto but I think Tony has a decent enough beard to survive that wicked sneaky upper cut of Judah and once that fails him, Judah just get's frustrated, loses focus, falls apart and can't seem to find nothing more to do in a fight other than run or take a beating.

I'm not gonna bother looking it up right now, but if I am not mistaken he is the only fighter since Trinidad left the division to defend his title more than twice. And when he did lose it, it was against a very difficult and capable top 5-3 WW right now, in what most agree was a very competitive fight.

He is a very strong welterweight that will give anybody a good fight. He is more than capable of beating Cotto and IMO would give him the toughest fight of his career to this point. His power and size could give PBF plenty of problems though it is unlikely he could beat Floyd.

Margo is still top 3 or 4 in the division. That cat is a rough fighter.

Well the question can go either way....Why shouldn't he be considered a threat still....A close fight with Clottey means nothing...Clottey will give anyone a close fight...I pick him over Cintron TBH...Clottey is a very good fighter who has never been beaten soundly and the Tony fight is his only real loss...he has 2 losses but he was beating Baldomir soundly before the DQ...He is a decent puncher and has a great chin...I don't see anyone just blowing him out with the exception of Floyd and that is based on speed nothing else....

Tony had a close fight with Williams..Williams did not blow him out...If Tony did not wait so long to get his ass in gear he still would be wearing the title...he did not lose by more then 2 points on 2 of the cards...one card was a bit off giving Williams a 4 advantage...

So with that being said..a close fight with a top contender and a close fight with a guy who many consider among the elite I don't see the signs of not being in the mix...or being worthy....Tony is only 29 he has alot in him

I have never seen a fight where more was made out of a hand injury than the Clottey fight. Its amazing, its like the fight ended in the third round.

As far as I know he didn't even break it, and Margarito apparently had some injuries too.

Clottey to me doesn't seem very mentally tough (look at the Baldomir fight) and he also has stamina problems, who knows what would have happened but any time the two of them fight Margarito's gonna come on strong late because of his much better stamina, volume, determination, regardless of any injuries.

As for Margarito, he's not elite but he's not an easy guy for most fighters to deal with.
