    Default Alfonso Gomez interview

    http://boxingtalk.com/pag/article14864.html

This guy is tough but wins over Tackie and Gatti mean nothing,I'd be dissappointed if Cotto does not crush him.

As a Cotto fan, I am a bit emberassed. This does nothing for Cotto. I feel sorry for Gomez but on the other hand, Cotto needs a soft punching opponent so he can get that inner part of his lip healing.

I felt the same When Calzaghe fought Manfredo...Except Joe had no excuse.

Hi guys, im laughting because these guy is dreaming with birds , he said that he going stay to fight foward with Cotto, body to body and also he recognize that he is a flaby boxer , i dont know how he going do it. I see that Gomez try to pomotion by himself, he said also that he is more underdog than Cotto , more faster and have more experience of boxing as underdog, this Gomez is a crazy guy , he think that won to Gatti and fought Manfredo, he believe that he is a biggest treat for Cotto. Is better for him to no say nothing about it, he going luxure much better. Can somebody tell , Where can I get an AVATAR BOXING? I APPRECIATE THE HELP.....THANKS.....

So what if Gomez is dreaming? He's taking a big risk, but he gets his name out there and is taking his oppurtunities as they come to him. It's better than that Sergio Mora who was offered a fight with Taylor and then tried to pick and choose the stipulations. At least Gomez has the balls to give it a go. Alot of guys could only dream about having a fight with Miguel; and Gomez is putting it on the line, so respect to him. At least he really is a "contender", not like those other frauds coming away from that show.

He will do a lot better than most of you think. Look at Jesse Feliciano everybody said that he would get knocked out in the first round but ended up giving him a very good fight. Hes motivated and I dont think he will win but hes isnt going there to loose i can tell you that! Cotto shouldnt underestimate him.

I give Gomez a good chance to spring an upset, hes big and strong at this weight and will throw punches, Cotto has fought some fighters who arent that strong or willing to fight back and stay with him, Malignaggi gave Cotto a good scrap and he cant hit.

Cotto should maul him up something rotten. Its a breather before building up to a couple of tough fights for Cotto. Would be surprised if it went the distance

Fair play to Gomez for having the balls to take this fight. Rumour is that his health insurance for this fight is going to cost more than the money he's earning from it.

I've been surprised by how many people that think he's going to do well in this fight. Just don't see it.

Gomez has always fought naturally bigger, stronger opponents, he has come on in skill terms, his last couple of fights although against has beens have been good prep, hes never been hurt by the bigger fighters so I dont see the smaller Cotto having the power to hurt him, or the workrate. Gomez has a good work rate, ok power and knows how to fight close which is where Cotto will get hurt, he likes a little distance and unless you have something special, going close is the best chance, Mosely gave Cotto all day to work, he was trying too hard to land an overhand right, it wasnt working and he tried nothing else really.

At least Gomez has some stomach for a scrap and should be strong enough to keep taking it to him.

Has Cotto fought anyone that wasnt from the weights below welter?

The longer this fights goes, the worse Gomez is going to look. Cotto is going to pound on the right side of Alfonso's face and Gomez will need to go straight to the hospital. I hope the bill for that surgery is not too steep.
