This guy is tough but wins over Tackie and Gatti mean nothing,I'd be dissappointed if Cotto does not crush him. |

Punch Power: 115 | | Re: Alfonso Gomez interview So what if Gomez is dreaming? He's taking a big risk, but he gets his name out there and is taking his oppurtunities as they come to him. It's better than that Sergio Mora who was offered a fight with Taylor and then tried to pick and choose the stipulations. At least Gomez has the balls to give it a go. Alot of guys could only dream about having a fight with Miguel; and Gomez is putting it on the line, so respect to him. At least he really is a "contender", not like those other frauds coming away from that show.

Punch Power: 19 | | Re: Alfonso Gomez interview He will do a lot better than most of you think. Look at Jesse Feliciano everybody said that he would get knocked out in the first round but ended up giving him a very good fight. Hes motivated and I dont think he will win but hes isnt going there to loose i can tell you that! Cotto shouldnt underestimate him.

 | | Re: Alfonso Gomez interview I give Gomez a good chance to spring an upset, hes big and strong at this weight and will throw punches, Cotto has fought some fighters who arent that strong or willing to fight back and stay with him, Malignaggi gave Cotto a good scrap and he cant hit.

Punch Power: 190 | | Re: Alfonso Gomez interview Fair play to Gomez for having the balls to take this fight. Rumour is that his health insurance for this fight is going to cost more than the money he's earning from it. |

 | | Re: Alfonso Gomez interview Gomez has always fought naturally bigger, stronger opponents, he has come on in skill terms, his last couple of fights although against has beens have been good prep, hes never been hurt by the bigger fighters so I dont see the smaller Cotto having the power to hurt him, or the workrate. Gomez has a good work rate, ok power and knows how to fight close which is where Cotto will get hurt, he likes a little distance and unless you have something special, going close is the best chance, Mosely gave Cotto all day to work, he was trying too hard to land an overhand right, it wasnt working and he tried nothing else really.
At least Gomez has some stomach for a scrap and should be strong enough to keep taking it to him.
Has Cotto fought anyone that wasnt from the weights below welter? |
