Default Thoughts on Haye Macaranelli fight time

Just read this on BBc site - I couldn't agree more. Midnight would have been fair to everyone

    BBC - 606 - - A33136706 - Haye v Macca v sleep deprivation

Midnight would have been fair, but you have to consider that Americans don't know either of these guys and if they want to capture fans on this side of the pond it has to be done at an inconvenience to them. Just like Joe Calzaghe's intro to the US it has to be done when people are all done with whatever they're doing and want to do nothing more than just plop down on the couch in front of the boob tube.

If they fight to impress, we'll be hooked. Then the next time they can fight on a Wednesday at 3 in the morning and we'll tune in. Think of these guys as door-to-door salesmen. Are you going to come to my house while I'm still at work or out running errands? When I'm sound asleep? Or are you going to knock on my door when you have a relatively good idea of when I'm home, relaxed and have pretty much nothing else to do anyway?

If I'm not mistaken, this is the first time for both men to be on a major network in the US. If they've been on before it was nowhere near the level of visibility of this one and let's face it, this is where the money is in boxing (for now).

Yeah midnight would have been a good time for it, thing I hate about
the late fights is often I fall asleep, if its on Sky I set my alarm and
watch the repeat at 8-9 the next morning, but Setanta sometimes don't repeat it till much later in the day, then u can't go online incase u see
    the result!

Both camps are stupid for agreeing to fight at that time.

Fights fans in the UK have to stay up all night so the Yanks who couldn't care less about these guys can watch at a comfy time for them?

Watch it on delay like we often have to.

that is a very valid point...

prob more to do with SN trying to break the american market to get funds for the big fights.

as they have no sky TV contract, ITV is only intrested in Khan and Satanta is still in its infant stages with boxing.

i would put this down as the only way forward for SN has at this point in time.

Good move on there part but America will only buy into good matchups so its all a plus for the fans

The factbis to keep providing the big fights huge capital has to be raised. This involves the implementation of PPV's, high ticket prices and unfortunately for us European fans, waiting up all night to see fights.

All necessary evils in providing the big fights.

Its 1 of the biggest domestic fight to happen since Ben-Eubank, and its shown in the early morning to suit Americans, who most of them have never heard or seen either fighter. It should be to suit the british fans and shown later in the US.

I dont mind the staying up so much but the later the fight is on (or earlier Sunday Morning) the worse for me. I have to catch the fights at night clubs in my area as I dont have Setanta yet and they never have the sound on because of the music playing, plus the place is full of drunken chavs who stand in the way on the screen.

    Heres me on the fight.

Enzo will win the very early rounds 1,2,3,4..... (not in a row but I think he'll win more in those 4 rounds)
Haye will turn it up and rock Enzo mid-way rounds 5,6,7,8 and finish him off.

I'm sick of all this 'must crack america' rubbish. Its the same in the music industry, what happened to pleasing 'your' fans at home. Just another example of the 54 state in waiting. 2am start for a big domestic dust up, condone it if you like but for me its beyond that. And, using the excuse that it will be; 'good for both boxers profile', bolloxxxx. They may benifit, frank warren will, the fans won't! I was in my early teens when I saw eubank v benn I. Get a bloody reality check for god sake.

showtimes cards are usually at 9PM, sometimes they start as late as 10PM

HBO on occasion, like if klitschko fights in germany, will air a fight in the afternoon

showtime isnt gonna make an exception for where a fight is held, anyway they plan on airing a tape delayed MMA card immediately after the fight and thats happening at 4PM EST time in the UK
