Punch Power: 15 | | Golden Boy vs Top Rank I'm having a complete brain fart and trying to figure out which fights fit under this category.
Being that Golden Boy and Top Rank made up their differences, the real winner is us boxing fans. BUT, does anyone else know other fights that have been a Golden Boy fighter vs a Top Rank fighter?? I'm very interested in knowing who is winning this contest. Miguel Cotto (Top Rank) VS Shane Mosley (Golden Boy): Cotto W12 Manny Pacquiao (Top Rank) vs Marco Antonio Barrera (Golden Boy) : Pacquiao W12 Manny Pacquiao (Top Rank) vs Juan Manuel Marquez (Golden Boy) : Pacquiao W12 Humberto Soto (Top Rank) vs Joan Guzman (Golden Boy) : Guzman W12 Top Rank: 3
Golden Boy: 1
I'll update the scores when more fights are brought up to my attention...

How the hell could Forbes be expected to win when the guy he's fighting in the ring also owns his contract outside of it? |

How the hell could Forbes be expected to win when the guy he's fighting in the ring also owns his contract outside of it? | Well, I mean just because he's also the promoter doesn't really mean anything. He might get his fair shake on the ring size, gloves and stuff like that but the judges are selected by the commission and the reason Oscar has so many GBP vs GBP fights (Barrera - Juarez and Hopkins - Wright spring to mind as examples of guys who have stakes in GBP's ownership fighting other GBP fighters) is because that makes the contract stuff easier to work out.
I don't think it's to much of a conflict in interest.

I don't think it's to much of a conflict in interest. | What I mean is if Oscar promotes Steve Forbes and Forbes beats him and costs him a multi million dollar mega showdown rematch with Floyd, the just maybe Forbes won't be fighting in any big fights any time soon |

Punch Power: 153 | | Re: Golden Boy vs Top Rank Yeah he's not on the site which is strange.
Just looked it up. So I was wrong. He's signed to Jeff Wald like someone else said and that is The Contender promoter.
He does have a real good working relationship with GBP though as he has fought on two previous GBP cards versus Golden Boy fighters in Hopkins and Bojado. Guess not.
Still, De La Hoya will be the main promoter for their fight and he'll be the one signing the check I assume so he might as well be. |
