Thread: I should be ashamed of myself (Cotto Vs. Gomez)

I know it's an awful thing to say but I wanted to see just how bad Cotto could beat up Gomez. It was like watching a good horror movie and I didn't want it to end.

Was anyone else drawn into the slow punch by punch disfiguring of a man's face? It was more like a science experiment than a fight.

I wanted to see the same at first, but after about 1 round, I changed my mind, just like Cotto did, and was wanting it to get stopped sooner.

I don't want to see Floyd rematch Oscar or Hatton, but c'mon, those are way better fights, and fighters than Gomez. Quit hating.

If that were Floyd or Margarito I would have no problem with that but not Alfonso he is a nice Kid who didn't have an Idea in what he was getting into.

My girlfriend was sitting next to me and she closed her eyes several times.
She really likes Gomez cause her and I saw the entire 1st season of the contender together and Gomez was her favourite.

I didn't want to see Gomez hurt as I like the guy especially after the 2nd round I pretty much knew it'd be over soon as Cotto took it easy on him.


For the record theres only ever been 1 cunt in the history of boxing who geniunely said:
"Believe it or not I don't mean to sound horrible in anyway but I knew there was gonna be a stretcher somewhere, I knew it. But Allah told me it would be OK and he's gonna be safe."
(After his opponent was taken out of the ring in a stretcher)

Cotto took it easy on him -- Mick

I agree that he took it easy by not whitewashing him in 2 rounds and making him look like a child.

But by letting Gomez survive Cotto actually gave him a more severe beating than if he'd of just knocked Gomez out.

I hope that Gomez can recuperate of his conditions and of the fight , he was a great warrior , i really don't want happen to him the same that happened to Fernando Vargas when fought with Trinidad , we know that the most of boxers cant improve this kind of defeat ........

I Obviously enjoyed this,the brutatility and the fact Gomez wasn't damaged permanent.

But at the same time you gotta admit it was simply unacceptable that Gomez corner was pleading for 1 more round...I mean ...c'mon .........

Rediculous... It was over after the first round... Since when did his father think he had a puncher's chance. When has Gomez been a puncher. Not in this lifetime.

Gomez is a good kid and a warrior but not at that level.

it was good seeing cotto show his skills.

So is Ray Robinson horrible for saying if he fought doyle he would kill him because he had a dream he killed him in the ring and then going into the ring and actually killing him? And saying "its OK he is gonna be safe" is better then saying "I tried to kill him by knocking his nose into his brain" or "Im going to kill you in the ring and send you to heaven to be with your dead mother"

I like Gomez and I didn't like seeing him knocked around like that. I just hope his confidence isn't too shaken up.

But don't feel too guilty, BG, I wanted to see Margarito knock Cintron completely out; like permanently. I was satisfied though to watch Margarito blow holes through him, and watch as Cintron crumpled onto the floor and not even bother to look up and watch Margarito taunting him.
