One post wanted to know protein rich foods...

PROTEINS

Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breast
Tuna (water packed)
Fish (salmon, seabass, halibut)
Shrimp
Extra Lean Ground Beef or Ground Round (92-96%)
Venison
Buffalo
Ostrich
Protein Powder (LET ME KNOW IF YOU NEED A GREAT PLACE TO BUY IT IN BULK!)
Egg Whites or Eggs
Ribeye Steaks or Roast
Top Round Steaks or Roast (aka Stew Meat, London Broil, Stir Fry)
Top Sirloin (aka Sirloin Top Butt)
Beef Tenderloin (aka Filet, Filet Mignon)
Top Loin (NY Strip Steak)
Flank Steak (Sir Fry, Fajita)
Eye of Round (Cube Meat, Stew Meat, Bottom Round , 96% LeandGround Round)
Ground turkey, Turkey Breast Slices or cutlets (fresh meat, not deli cuts), ground chicken

That is all LEAN great protein.. I mostly eat chicken, egg whites, and fish and occasionally treat my self to a nice STEAK every now and again


there was another post asking if the best way to gain weight is junk food

that's a REALLY bad idea. the only time i've seen this implemented in a diet regimen was when a Bodybuiding friend of mine was training a NFL running back and he REALLY could not get his weight to move w/ great dieting already. So he ate lots of ice cream along w/ eating clean and his weight finally moved.

If you want to gain weight you have to UP your calories. If you do this eating junk food not only are you putting unhealthy foods in your body but u're probably just going to build FAT along w/ some muscle.

the best way to see what u're eating is by logging your diet (www.fitday.com... its free,cheap,easy.) If you find u're not eating enough then it's time to up your carbs and protein (the most IMPORTANT MACRO for gaining weight)...YOU MUST LOG YOUR DIET!! if u dont... YOU ARE GUESSING!! Not enough protein and your muscles will not grow. As boxers we should probably be getting 1.5-1.8 g's per lean body lb. you ALSO want to make sure you're getting enough carbs.. there are GOOD carbs and bad carbs here is a list of good carbs

COMPLEX CARBS

Oatmeal (Old Fashioned or Quick Oats)
Sweet Potatoes
Yams
Beans (pinto, black, kidney)
Oat Bran Cereal
Rye Cereal
Brown Rice
Farina (Cream of Wheat)
Multigrain Hot Cereal
Whole wheat or Spinach Pasta
Rice (white, jasmine, basmati, Arborio, wild)
Potatoes (red, baking, new)

FIBROUS CARBS

Green Leafy Lettuce (Green Leaf, Red, Leaf, Romaine)
Broccoli
Asparagus
String Beans
Spinach
Bell Peppers
Brussels Sprouts
Cauliflower
Cabbage
Celery
Cucumber
Eggplant
Green or Red Pepper
Onions
Pumpkin
Garlic
Tomatoes
Zucchini

Eat these carbs and take all the breads and refined carbs out of your diet and you will be doing your body a TREMENDOUS FAVOR!!!!

If you are trying to gain.. GOOD, CLEAN weight i suggest the following formula
FOR EVERY LEAN BODY LB... get 2 grams of carbs and 1.5-1.8g of protein. Don't forget to include the good fats as well.. 25% -30% of ur total kcals should be of GOOD fats (anything but trans and saturated fat)
