Who the h*** is this guy? And why will Kessler fight him for WBA belt?

The article linked says this Sartison never fought a top 100 boxer. So how can he get a title match? Whose arse did Palle kiss ?

It doesn't really matter I reckon, the dude will be paid well for fighting Mikkel and Kess' will get a strap back, which means greter leverage in negotiating future fights.

I bet you are right - But imo Kessler deserves better. And has a lot to lose in this fight.

A loss would not only be a huge upset, it would be disastrous for Kessler's career! His marketability, his claim to the top level, everything would be gone!


In turn Joe Calzaghe's win over a very good fighter would be nullified.

Disaster is the right word to use, yes. But I certainly do not hope Kessler will have too many of these "nobody" fights...

The article uses Boxrec's rankings as a starting point. Therefore the article should automatically be discluded from any further conversation.

I am not saying Sartison has a great resume. Hell, I've never even seen Sartison fight. But Gusmyl Perdomo was a WBA-ranked fighter when Sartison beat him (and Perdomo is still ranked #5 by the WBA), and Sartison's last opponent has been in a recent (WBA) titlefight with Mundine as well.

In other words Sartison may not have done anything to earn his rankings, but he isnt exactly put up there only by Palle-money either. In fact, from the look of it, Sartison's manager has been pretty good at kissing WBA's arse even before Palle/Kessler entered into the picture.
