Thread: Winky Wright news.

Surprise. Another Winky thread by me....

I was wondering if anyone had heard any news about Winky's future plans. I remember some talk about a Kessler fight that fell through.

Personally I am glad the fight didn't take place, because it isn't what Kessler needs at the moment.....because he probably wouldn't have looked that good even if he did beat Wright.
However, I would like to see a fight made soon. I don't even know what weight class he will be in but sure at 160-168.
Arthur Abraham/Miranda has been made.

How about this? What about Winky against the following?

Carl Froch
Sturm
Lucian Bute

Oh and I would prefer Tam not messing my thread up with Froch statements.

Winky Wright? Does he still fight?

Or did you mean this Winky? Because I heard he retired, and now just hangs out in forums everywhere.

I just read something the other day, and Winky was giving the usual "nobody wants to fight me" speech. He said that he wants to get a fight for the fall.

I'd still like to see Pavlik - Wright, but Pavlik seems to have gone to the Joe Calzaghe school of title-defenses (there's talk of him fighting Rubio after Lockett). I'm not sure how much Winky has left, so a Pavlik fight could be a disaster for him. It seems to be a high-risk/high-reward fight for him.
I also wouldn't mind seeing Winky fight the winner of Miranda-Abraham II, but I doubt he wants to wait that long before fighting again.
I'm curious to see how dropping down in weight after the B-Hop fight has affect him.

And from the names you mentioned above...I would like Sturm vs Winky...I actually mentioned on Sturms Homepage that he should go asap to the US again and fight some big name like Winky...But sadly I doubt this will happen soon...

I've heard a lot of rumors but no solid info i've heard he was thinking of taking on Jermain Taylor again, but nothing concrete. I've also heard he was trying to secure a fight with Kelly Pavlik but again nothing concrete, maybe your hear more of him after Kelly Pavlik beats Lockett.

Dan Rafael often writes about Winky in his blogs. Apparently Winky has been offered fights but has been unreasonable with his purse demands. He wants to make the kind of money he made for the Hopkins fight every time.

As of now, he has nothing in planning, and he getting older and older.

I thought the Taylor/Winky fight a very entertaining one,but I still would prefer Winky to fight Pavlik,Abraham or Sturm at MW or Kessler,Bute at SMW...
