Default De La Hoya wants Cotto for his one, last fight

That's according to Oscar, one more fight and he wants it to be Cotto. Assuming, of course, that Cotto wins. Margarito doesn't hold the same appeal I guess.

Its on Dan Rafael's notebook: ESPN - Notebook: De La Hoya calling it a career with one last fight in December - Boxing

I think I've got a rep bet with JT if this comes off.

I wonder if Margarito would have appeal to Oscar should he beat Cotto? If that happens it will be interesting to see if Oscar still tries for a fight with Cotto or goes for Tony? If neither, then who? I wouldn't mind seeing a DeLa Hoya/Williams fight personally. Hell, he fought Forbes; Williams is a bigger step up from him IMO.

Well it seems to me that Oscar either is confident that Cotto beats Tony or is not interested in Margo even if he blows Cotto out.

I don't see a Williams fight happening, he's not a big name (and Oscar's going to want a big name if this is really his last fight), and he's a physical freak, an octopus with a awkward style.

So if Cotto loses to Tony (I don't think he will but who knows) then what does Oscar do assuming PBF stays retired? Winky?

Not saying Margarito is or is not a better fighter then Cotto but I will say he is a more Dangerous opponent for Oscar. Especially the way he has performed his last 2 fights. Tony is a stand up fighter who throws straight punches and likes to bang. He also is taller then DLH with the same reach.

Cotto is smaller with a 6" less reach it would be a much easier fight for Oscar to stay outside away from danger.

Though Cotto is a murderous body puncher and Oscar does not like to be hit in the body.

Cotto is the best choice IMO...I mean "The Golden Boy" is saying his good bye and in his last he should face a big,BIG name...And now with Mayweather gone Cotto is the best welterweigth and he is exciting to watch...Oscar is showing some guts for wanting Cotto...especially if you consider that his only ko loss came from a bodypunch...This fight,if its happens, should be awesome...

IMO , if Margaro defeat to Cotto , Oscar should give the shot to Margaro , because would be the Best WW , but by the other way Cotto to me could represents more money than Margaro , so probably Oscar would give the shot to Cotto...................

I think Delahoya has a great shot in this fight... I think his jab, size and chin will make a world of difference in this fight... I see Oscars chin holding up better than Cotto's

The question here is IF the fight comes off does Cotto move up to 154 or does ODLH move down to 147?

    or

Will it be at a catchweight?

Regardles I think Cotto wins this one. ODLH clearly is waaay past his best.
When you've been figthing for sooooo long and you are clearly wining a fight with your jab you just don't stop throwing for no apparent reason.
Oh! Wait sorry scratch that I almost forgot. "It wasn't the night of the jab" Come on ODLH you've never had good legs you've never had good stamina you can't box for 12 rounds and that is clear.

I willing to bet that he fights the winner of this fight whether it's Cotto or Margarito.
