I would have to say so.In a way it gave him a huge springboard and one of his most dominating & devastating fights in Griffin Rematch.

Griffin did do some very good acting but Jones did know what he was doing and a few seconds went by between Griffin taking a knee and Jones landing those 2 punches, im a big Jones fan but i think the DQ was right IMO, and also it was the best thing that could of happened for Jones because in the rematch he was more fired up then he ever had been for a fight, shame he didn't use the same attitude against Tarver when he got KO'ed.

Without rules you have chaos, with chaos comes disorder and Roy should have known better, the DQ was rightly called and if it wasn't the sport descends to the depths of backstreet brawling.

HELL YES!!! He hit Montell Griffin TWICE while he was down. He deserved to be thrown out
BTW he also lost all 3 fights to Antonio Tarver too

Depends, I guess Floyd Mayweather deserves a loss for hitting Ndou when he was down.

Ultimately it ruined Montells career because of what Roy did to him in the rematch. Would have been much better for Montell to have lost a decision.

the ref had no chioce to DQ him, if montel got back up jones wud of had 1-2 points taken of him, but becoz griffin got ko'd there was no chioce in the matter.

question is was montel really ko'd or did he fake it?

I think so. I think Montell acted up a little bit.

Anyway i think the loss did Jones no harm as he ko'd him in the rematch anyway.

That devastating KO in the rematch probably did more to enhance Jones legacy than just a simple UD the first time round would have done.

If a loss was applied every time this occured MAB would be losing a few fro his record.
    As would Rocky Marciano.

Yea In Marciano's famous KO of Walcott, didn't Walcott gone down on one knee after being hit by the right hand ?? then Marciano KO'ed him with a left hook while Walcott was still on one knee.

I saw that a little differently. Jones saw he was down and made a conscious decision to hit him after. Berto just didn't pull back after what's-his-face fell to one knee. He was already throwing his punch when the guy fell.

But Roy did deserve the DQ. And Roy did beat Tarver in their first match, whomever wrote that. Tarver won his rounds more convincingly, but that doesn't give you extra points; Roy won more rounds.
    Oops

I actually didn't think Tarver vs Jones 1 was that close i had Jones a clear winner by 2 rounds or maybe 3 rounds, Jones clearly won the last two 2 rounds which gave him the nod for certain in my eyes.

Anyone remember Riddick Bowe Clocking Buster Mathis Jr. After he had taken a knee....Purley intentional and the commision,Mercante sr.& Larry hazzard huddled in the ring coming up with a ruling...they did not realize that the Microphone was on and caught conversation.Bowe was winning but should have been DQ'd Imo.

Yes i remember that funny you should mention that because Gil Clancy who commentated on Jones vs Griffin 1 mentioned that fight as well.
