Default Why Cotto lost

I knew 2 minutes into the fight he was going to get knocked out, simply because he was trying to fight going backwards , was tight and obviously was caught-up in the whole Mexico PR drama and this impacted him mentally.

Despite the commentators praise -Cotto does not normally knock people out by head-shots - yes his punches were crisp and he threw combinations but HOW MANY BODY SHOTS DID HE THROW IN THE ENTIRE FIGHT? - watch the replay and count - he head-hunted the entire fight.
Did his team not watch tape ? I thought the only way he could win - was by slowing Margarito down via body attacks instead Cotto danced/ran himself into exhaustion and hardly took a forward step in the entire fight. Its sad to see a boxer overestimate his power, the reality is he was outclassed due to his poor preparation and probably over confidence. Just my opinion.....

If Cotto boxed and moved for the whole fight like he did early he would have cruised to the win. I knew he wouldn't though and thats why i picked Margarito to win late. Cotto can't resit getting caught up in a fight, he's been like this his whole career.

Cotto lost because he couldn't protect the body. He took a beating to it and it sapped him of all his speed and strength.

It was brilliant brilliant work to the body by Tony and that is the reason he won the fight.

Money post right there.

I scored the fight online with around 40 other fans and everybody was in awe of Cottos flashy combos upstairs...I thought Margarito was being just as affective to the body.

Cotto looked tired after 6.

Many people predicted Cotto to work the body but I guess it was the other way around. Add to that how Tony walked through Cotto's punches to cut him and work on that chin/jaw.

Thanks. Every trainer in the World should save this fight tape and play it for their guys. Cotto was a completely different fighter after the pounding he took to the body. Too bad the announcers ignored this brilliant and viscous sustained attack.

nah just fed up with you empty excuses ..... Cotto got his ass served to him in front of his wife and kids. After 6 he was drained of energy from Margaritos pressure and he even looked pale. It was obvious what was developing . You are wacked if you think a guy can waltz for 12 rounds and not tire or win a decision in a Mexico vs Puerto Rico fight. You are basically saying Cotto should have behaved like ODLH against Trinidad. When 2 latin boxers fight, you have to fight ! There is no luxury afforded to our fighters to dance like Suger Ray or PBF due to our culture. Had he danced he would have survived but he would have lost.

Just like ODLH lost what was really his by true boxing standards. There is profiling for Latin boxers. We are not dancers nor are we allowed to dance in bouts and expect a decision in our favor.................

Cotto is the better boxer, just shows you how it doesnt always count over hard rounds.
Balls, tenacity, willpower,Mex bloodlines a plan and a great chin beat it.

Then theres the bigger fighter against the smaller boxer thing; Tony wasnt fazed at all in that fight just knew what he wanted and kept pressing, Cotto would lose the next one again I dont think he will want it.
