    Default UK Boxing Experts?

Barry McGuigan reckons Hatton should fight Cotto because he'd beat him

What does it take to be an expert? I'm pretty sure he called Edwin Valero a top ten p4p'er as well a few weeks ago.

Then take into account sky's dreadful p4p lists.

Seriosuly, i think Steve Bunce is the saviour.

Guys with this amount of knowledge shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the telly

Makes me laugh the ex-pros and journos given the moniker expert.

What qualifies someone as an expert on boxing?

I respect the opinion of most of the pundits but it's blatantly obvious many (the majority) DO NOT follow boxing half as intensely as people on here do.

Fenster I remember seeing a news clip out here years and years ago on Abc which is linked to the bbc of someone in green shorts knocking someone cold in the first punch of the first round of a major fight.
Was that Barry Mcguigen that did that by any chance ?

Sorry, I don't recall that, Andre You know who Barry McGuigan is, right?

A regular Brit commentator Nicky Piper famously KO'd someone in 10/20 seconds, of the first round, back in the early 90s with one punch (if i remember rightly)

I made a post about this subject a long time ago. IMO there is no such thing as a boxing expert. There are too many flaws and emotions involved with the human brain and boxing is an inexact science.

Unless there is a huge disparity with the fighters involved, it usually comes down to a roll of the dice and still, upsets do happen.

Bunce predicted Lockett would beat Pavlik which had huge emotion involved. Atlas's predictions are way less than 50%, which is really bad because doing an "ini mini miney moe" would guarantee him a 50% result!LOL

Bunce just seems so thick to me. Not very articulate and the manner in which he carries himself just causes me to shake my head. They are all pretty lame.

I don't think Bunce thought Lockett was going to beat Pavlik, he just had to say it to make people interested in the fight. He's probably the best boxing writer in Britain but not so impressive on TV. He may get better in a year or so.

Yeah its like listening to a drunk in a pub talking about boxing , but Bunce is on tv so he should be presenting an experts analysis. He's just a fan who likes boxing but his opinion is no better than anyones else. Its not as if he were a boxer himself. What does he know?

I prefer guys who have been there and done that who can present their insight in a professional way . Not a scummy loudmouth !

He used to be an amateur boxer. He still goes to most amateur events too. There's probably nobody in the country as knowledgeable about the British boxing scene as Bunce which you can tell when you read his stuff. He's different altogether on TV. More rubbish.

Antony Small said something even worse, on Setanta he said that Margarito should fight Hatton. He really must like snuff movies or Antony has taken too many punches to the head. WTF!!!

Bunce had his own list but he is inconsistant with it . He ridiculed someone elses saying Shane shouldnt be higher than Cotto cuz Cotto recently beat him which is fair enough so then why on his own list does Tony rank above Williams. He isnt making sense.
