Default Tszyu quit on his stool, does this mean he was not a warrior? Why all the MMA hype?

Kostya Tszyu quit on his stool, does this mean he was not a warrior?

Can you name any other great fighters who quit?

Which got me to thinking about the MMA, why all this hype about a sport where fighters quit all of the time, when a fighter taps out, does this make his less of a man or less of a fighter?

I am just bringing this up because people are calling Cotto a quiter but if you watch the fight as I have watched it, Miguel took a lot of punishment and should have been knocked out in the second, the seventh, the eigth, the 10th and in the eleventh. Miguel could have easily taken more knees a lot earlier, didnt someone mention Gary Lockett in another thread?

Only those with superior chins have been able to go the distance with Margarito. We all know that Miguel has a less than perfect chin but to say he is not a warrior is pure bullshiet. Miguel never tried to clintch at every chance he got, he went to war. Some one mentioned that Hatton vs Mayweather Jr was a great fight. Are you fucking kinding me? All Floyd did was hold. Ricky got hit once and was out. How long would Hatton last against Margarito? LMAO! Cotto did not get hit once, Cotto got hit good and plenty and everywhere. Tony hit Miguel in the head, neck, shoulders, arms, body, hip and even while Miguel was down

    FOTY!

Anyone who says Miguel is not a warrior or a great fighter needs to get their eyes checked.

BTW, how much holding and hugging did Paul Williams do against Margarito?

Miguel could have hugged Tony until the cows came home but he didn't, he put up a great fight.

    End

I will label Cotto a "quitter" or "not a warrior" if he will take a knee again in his future fights...

Knowing when you are beaten and not going on may look weak but has to prolong your career. It is a short term loss of reputation for a long term gain in prolonging your career.

Kostya was pulled out by his corner, he actually wanted to go on.

I wouldn't call Cotto a quitter by the last knee he was spent, he knew it there is no shame in it, he is a clever boxer and knows his body.

The last thing I would have wanted to see was Cotto take more punishment at the end of that fight I think the ref should have stopped it before Cotto had to

Cotto's a Warrior for getting in the ring dominating for the first 6 and fighting till exhaustion

    What more do you want!!!

Anyone who calls these guys quitters are the kind of fans who are are not happy until one of the boxers is carried out of the ring disabled or worse

We saw a great fight with two Warriors that ended with them both safe perfect fight !!

People really should stop calling boxers quitters, especially when theyve taken enough punishment, if they dont answer the bell or the count that just makes them smart. Would people be happier to watch them die in the ring?

Cotto is not a warrior nor have a warrior's heart. He is a boxer.
I rather watch him being defeated as a boxer than a warrior.

"I made the decision to take the knees not because i couldnt take anymore" -- he quit any shame in it no!

Jesus guys they both said they quit why discuss it? so what they made the right choice but they did volunterally prematurelly end the fights!

The difference with Paul Williams is that he actually beat Margarito and Cotto didn't even last 12 rounds

Really to me anyone who gets in the ring with another world class fighter is a warrior. I mean come on they put their life on the line every time they do it so it has to be deemed as a warrior mentality. Fair enough some people have a more exciting style where they take more punishment to give out their own (Gatti, Margarito etc) but to suggest that the likes of Tszyu and Cotto are not warriors is insane.

    Definition of warrior:

    war·ri·or (wôr-r, wr-)
    n.
    1. One who is engaged in or experienced in battle.
    2. One who is engaged aggressively or energetically in an activity, cause, or conflict

You call that a beating you dumb little biatch?
Did you see Tony's face after his so called fight with Margarito? Not a scratch on it. Did you see Tony's face after his fight against Cotto? Paul and Tony hugged so much the fight put me to sleep. Cotto actually tried to beat Tony while Paul was just hopping to get a gift decision

Funny I was Never a Cotto Fan, but his last Fight changed all that. He showed me a lot more in losing than ever before. Looking forward to His next one, He is not a Bottle Job picked the wrong Horse.

Did I once say PW gave Margarito a beating ? NO and there is the big difference, Cotto tried and he couldn't and never will beat Margarito. Whearas Paul Williams done just that. Your just bitter cuz your boy couldn't even make it to the scorecards So much for Cotto the great
