It's a disrespect to Miranda, Klitschko and Pavlik to have them as undercard of a Pacquiao main event...

De La Hoya is putting Pacquiao in a coma. Luevano would out work Concepcion. Mares would dominate Penaolsa. And Gonzalez shatters Bumtista glass jaw.

Yep, Filipinos will be the underdogs... But I'm picking the Filipinos to win except Bautista...

No way in hell Peñalosa will beat Abner Mares, Mares is a stud and will become a headliner that night dismantling Gerry . Bautista has a great chance because Jhonny has toughness issues, but then again I question Bautistas jaw. Steve Luevano vs. Bernabe Concepcion is a toss up but I favor Luevenos experience.

This would be a great card although I think the Filipinos would be underdogs at every turn. I agree that Luevano Concepcion would be the most competitive. The main event is obviously intriguiing but I'm dissapointed in DLH for taking it.

My proposed fight card is slowly shaping up....

Peñalosa opts for undefeated Mexican in title defense

World Boxing Organization bantamweight champion Gerry Penalosa has picked undefeated 22-year-old Mexican Abner Mares over Nestor Rocha for his next title defense.

The Mares showdown is a mandatory title defense. Peñalosa is hoping the fight can be on the Manny Pacquiao-Oscar de La Hoya undercard at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on December 6.

Penalosa said that his manager, Billy Keane, called him and told him there were two offers on the table from Golden Boy Promotions.

The first offer stipulates that Peñalosa should defend his title against Rocha for a purse of $150,000, possibly on the undercard of the IBF/IBO welterweight title fight between Paul Malignaggi and Britain's Ricky "The Hitman" Hatton at the MGM Grand on November 22..

The second says the WBO champ should face No. 1 ranked Abner Mares (17-0, 10 KOs) also at the MGM Grand but on the megabuck Pacquiao-de la Hoya fight for a much bigger purse of $250,000.

Penalosa, the 36-year-old southpaw with a record of 53-6-2 with 36 knockouts, said his choice was Mares. “I am confident I can beat him.”

A local newspaper at Puerto Rico indicated that there were possibilities of having Juan Manuel Lopez (22-0, 20 KO), if he wins his first title defense on October 04 against César Figueroa (30-6-2, 22 KO). The name of this card if "The First Step".

I am not sure if this is a possibility, but it would be nice...
Puerto Rico, Small Island, Big Champions!!!

Addition of JuanMa to the December 6 Hoya-PAC fight card would be nice... only that it will not meet the general theme of Mexico (or Mexican-American) vs. Philippines fight card...

Maybe someday we can have a Puerto Rico vs. Philippines card and maybe headlined by Cotto vs. Pacquiao...
