    Darchinyan KOs Mijares, wants Donaire

Vic Darchinyan immediately vowed revenge over Filipino Nonito Donaire after pulling off a stunning KO of Mexico’s Cristian Mijares in Carson, California to unify the super-flyweight division.

IBF champ Darchinyan also claimed the WBA and WBC titles by crushing Mijares at the end of round nine in a fight he totally dominated.

Darchinyan is now 31-1-1 (25 KOs) and super keen to gain revenge over Donaire who handed him his only defeat with a fifth-round KO last year to take the IBF flyweight title.

``I will destroy Donaire,’’ Darchinyan said, ``even easier than I beat Mijares.
``I kept my promise. I said I would destroy Mijares, I said I would prove all the writers who picked Mijares wrong.
``I said I would show my skills and my power and knock him out and I kept my promise.

Referee Lou Moret stopped the fight at 3min of round nine as Mijares was out badly hurt underneath the ropes.

Under enormous pressure from Darchinyan’s power, Mijares, 27, five years younger and with an 8cm reach advantage, fought the wrong fight from the opening bell.

He was dropped – for just the second time in his career - by a hard left uppercut by Darchinyan with 19 seconds left the first round and though he wanted to trade punches with Vic in the second and third, even waving Darchinyan in, he was copping the worst of it.

Rather than rely on his boxing skills he went into the trenches with the powerful Aussie-Armenian in a game the Mexican was never going to win.
The cocky Darchinyan proved he is one of the best fighters in the world pound for pound.

All three judges had Darchinyan ahead 79-72 at the time of the stoppage.

Darchinyan’s promoter Gary Shaw said Darchinyan was willing to fight anyone in the world – even Oscar De La Hoya at 152lb
Mijares fell to 36-4-2 (14 KOs) and suffered his first loss since 2002.

I picked Donaire to win the 1st fight... and I still pick him to win the rematch with Vic... even at 115 lbs...

I'd like to see Vic fight Donaire then fight Z Gores and then Jorge Arce.

While I expected Mijares to easily beat Darchinyan. I never considered Mijares to be the best fighter in the division. That's always been Fernando Montiel.

Arum/TopRank said it's Montiel or Arce next for Donaire at 115... Darchinyan will not like this idea... Darchi is itching to avenge his humiliating knockout loss to Donaire...

I initially laughed at the ODLH @ 152 comment, but the way Oscar is looking for smaller and smaller fighters all the time it may happen...... haha.

If Donaire vs. Vic won't happen next, I hope Donaire gets Montiel...

Of course Vic wants Doniare now...While Doniare is holding a title and busy making his own fights and Vic has had time to settle in at SFW....

Now Doniare is supposed to jump at Vic's request?....Vic could of had his rematch but choose not to...Now he can wait.....

Vic will get plenty more fights. He has more belts at a higher weight. Donaire is just fighting bums about nce a decade.

Vic will get plenty more fights. He has more belts at a higher weight. Donaire is just fighting bums about once a decade.
Sorry but Maldonado and Mthalane are no bums... Remember Mthalane defeating OZ Hussein Hussein? Maybe Hussein is the bum...

It's just unfortunate Donaire ran into promotional/managerial problems that prevented him from fighting more frequently...

I think u are not giving Vic credit cos u dislike him. If it was one of your favourites u'd be giving them far more props. U are somehow turning Vics defeat of a ring top 10 P4P guy into a negative by sayiing he is scared of Donaire.... Gee leave the guy alone. I know Vic is a cockhead, but he has improved heaps since his only defeat.

'Has nothing to do with liking or disliking him...I can't stand PBF but fact is he is a damn good fighter...

My only point is I really do not think that Vic deserves top be #1 P4P...and I do think Doniare is a better fighter...I would choose Doniare over Vic 70/30 if they fought a 100 times....

His win last night was a good one..you can't take that away...Now if Vic was getting his ass kicked all night then scored a lucky punch to score the win then that would be different but he was winning the fight before the KO......

Has nothing to do with Vic himself..(Though he is a pecker head)....Hell I am a Huge Margarito fan and IMO he is one of ther toughest guys out there and deserves his status on the P4P list but I will be the first to say it is not because of his boxing skill but rather his pure toughness....

I can criticize or give credit to fighters regardless of my feelings as a fan
