Default Diego Chico Corrales what if

Knowing what we know that Joshua Clottey is no joke at welterweight. What do you think Chico Corrales could have done at 140 lbs. I am looking at the ratings I couldn't see anybody stopping him there. Sure very tough threats but no real bomber's there. I would have given Chico a great chance at beating all of these guy's.

I love(d) Corrales, but Hatton would've destroyed him. Chico's long, slender frame would not stand up well to the body attack of Hatton. I'd give him a decent shot at any of the other Jr Welters, but wasn't he going to be fighting at 147 anyways? R.I.P.

I don't know about that. He stopped Castillo with a body shot, and I would imagine he would have targeted Corrales' body all night if they had fought. I really can't see Chico winning that one.

If you remember after the Clottey fight his trainer said to him let's go back down to 140lbs. Hatton is really the only threat but even he isn't invincible. I like Chico's tall slender frame over Hatton the muscular type. I think it would have been a fight of the year.

No doubt it would've been a great fight. I would've liked to have seen Chico at 140 (if he could make the weight) .

Chico is missed. With the right and focused mind set he could of indeed been the world champ today. WARRIOR

I think Chico was on the downward spiral at the time of his unfortunate death. I think 140 or 147 might have been too much for him.

Unfortunately, I feel the same. However, 140 is not a very deep division, but me thinking he could compete with the top-end talent of the division is probably just wishful thinking on my part.

But fair to say he coulda or woulda gave anyone on that list a good argument in the ring .... including the new domesticated version of Hatton..

Thats one shot in like 5 fights Hes really gone away from body punching, one of his biggest flaws i reckon.

I would kind of agree with the downward spiral.. But I think his style lended itself to some really great fights, and he was solid enough and had a heart to hang with just about anyone... But his style also had it's hole's, and that's where you can see certain fighters exploiting them... So he'd have his fair share of great wins, but there would always be guys who would give him a lot of trouble...

Any fighter who is prepared to let it all hang out and fight with as much heart as him though is always always welcome in boxing as far as i'm concerned. And regardless of the rest of the division, 140 or 147, he'd be a great asset to either if he was still around.. R.I.P

Like Dizaster said, Corrales was the type of guy to never take a backward step so I see great fights with Hatton, Urango, Lazcano and maybe Bradley too.

Also as Dizaster said, (should have posted in the thread before you, bastard) watching two guys fight toe to toe until either themselves or their foe hits the canvas is when you see some of the most special moments in boxing.

Exactly, and that's what he was always going to bring, and would have made some great fights if he was still around
