Default If Hatton beat Pacquiao is he P4P No1?

This fight looks as though it will now happen. After last nights performance it definitely wont be an easy win for Hatton as so many on here thought this time yesterday.

I'm a huge Hatton fan but the two things he always says that does my head in are: referring to himself in the 3rd person and saying his dream of being P4P number 1 will come true if he beats Mayweather/Pacquiao.

The top P4P spot is not like the Ring belt, that said though, is Hatton correct in this instance? Pacquiao clearly doesn't lose anything at the higher weights so if hatton were to win then it would hold a great deal of credibilty

Yeah... and if I get more votes than Barack Obama in the next elections, I'll be President of the United States.

You're right about Hatton, he does treat p4p like the ring belt. A win over Pac would be huge, but Iwouldn't put him p4p no.1, after all Pac only this year struggled with JMM, and beating a faded Oscar doesn't make you an invincible superman overnight.

It's what I hate about Hatton, he likes to portray himself as an 'anyone anywhere' type of fighter, but is the most selective fighter out there. Fights with Floyd and Pac are low risk for him in reality since he can claim he only lost to the very best, when in fact he'd be a huge underdog against the top 5 welters, 50/50 with Bradley and something similar with the smaller JMM - which isn't the reputation of a p4p no.1.

Pac is number 1 P4P. If Hatton beats Pac he becomes P4P #1. Simple logic.

Only if Mayweather doesn't come back. Pac was only #1 'cause Floyd 'retired'.

i'm sure a lot of people will say that even if pbf wasn't retired, pac would still be no. 1. that should unretire him. lol

So by that logic if DLH would have beat Pac would you have put him 1 P4P

I disagree totally Vernon Forrest beat Shane Mosley, who was P4P number 1 at that time. Infact he dominated the P4P number 1 fighter at that time, and he never come close to being P4P number 1.

And to my knowledge whenever a P4P number 1 fighter has been beat, the other fighter who beat them have never become P4P number 1. But i would put Ricky Hatton in the top 5 easily. And like Sonny just said by your logic if ODLH beat Manny Pacquiao, he would become P4P number 1 aswell ? do you see how flawed that logic is ?

I don't care if hatton beats him in the first round, he will not be the p4p #1 fighter. simple he isn't, never has been or never will be good enough to ever claim that title. He has never deserved to be in the top 5. and has hung on in the top 10 way to long.

Hatton keeps saying this, he clearly doesn't understand how the P4P works.. like many fans

Although.. Hatton is definitely one of the most underrated P4P fighters, when basing it on accomplishments compared with other top rated fighters.
