Default My Thoughts Now Everything Has Calmed Down.

Manny Pacquiao was superb his handspeed didn't change one bit, despite moving up two weightclasses. I also liked the way he picked his shots and countered, he never got too wild and let his warrior instinct take over.

But the thing that impressed me the most was his defense. Its improved so much the way he was making ODLH miss with his upper body movement, and the way he was catching ODLH's jab's with his glove's was just masterful to watch.

But i have to say ODLH looked flat as a pancake, and you may not believe this. But i said to my friend as soon as i heard Manny Pacquiao weighed more than ODLH. when they rehydrated.

I changed my pick and went with Manny Pacquiao. I knew as soon as that comment was made ODLH would be badly weight drained, and he was he also didn't look right to me when he was warming up or when he was in the ring.

He looked really tense and nervous where as Manny Pacquiao, didn't look like he had a care in the world. Especially since Manny Pacquiao is carrying his whole country on his shoulders, i think he deals with the pressure brilliantly.

As for Manny Pacquiao's future opponents, i think he beats Ricky Hatton no question. Manny Pacquiao is a Southpaw, and Ricky Hatton has struggled against Southpaw's since he was an Amateur. Plus Manny Pacquiao has great speed another attribute. Ricky Hatton struggles against badly against.

I think Manny Pacquiao could easily box on the outside, and pick apart Ricky Hatton on the outside. I do think Ricky Hatton would make it much more competitive than ODLH did, because Ricky Hatton is better at cutting off the ring.

And getting close to his opponents because he has very quick feet, whether or not he will be able to do anything once he gets on the inside i have no idea. But i think the smart bet here would be Manny Pacquiao UD.

As for Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather Jr, no doubt i'll still go with my boy Floyd Mayweather Jr. He is all wrong for Manny Pacquiao IMO, he is a counter puncher/he is constantly on the backfoot/Manny Pacquiao likes opponents to come to him/he has an excellent straight right hand lead/And he is amazingly hard to hit./

I think Floyd Mayweather Jr would outpoint Manny Pacquiao. In a competitive exciting but i think it should happen, and as i said before if Manny Pacquiao beat ODLH it should happen, it would be a fight between the two beat P4P fighters which hasn't happened since. Pernell Whitaker vs Julio Cesar Chavez.

It would be a great event so why not ? i just hope there isn't any excuses. If Floyd Mayweather beats Manny Pacquiao, like weight excuses and ETC. Manny Pacquiao is very comfortable at Welterweight and all of his attributes he had at Lightweight he has carried up to Welterweight.

People don't realize is that there size difference isn't that much at all. When Manny Pacquiao was fighting at Flyweight, he was 16/17. Now how much did you guys weigh when you was that age ? and how much do you weigh now ? when i was 16 i was just about 140, now at 19 im 164. And i still have more growing to do because im not a fully grown man yet.

Manny Pacquiao is now at his peak weight wise. He has fully grown into his body now. And him putting on 20+ since he was 16/17 is perfectly normal for most men, Floyd Mayweather when he rehydrated against ODLH was 149 pounds and that was his limit, and Manny Pacquiao was 148 and a half pounds.

So really and truthfully if Floyd Mayweather beats Manny Pacquiao, he deserves all the credit in the world. Lasty i would just like to say, i lost a few bets regarding this fight. But i said if i lost i wouldn't be disappointed because i was rooting for Manny Pacquiao, he was amazing and im glad i lost the bets now. Manny Pacquiao winning was better for the sport, and i wish him good luck in the future. He's the modern day Henry Armstrong incredible.

Great post with some excellent points, ICB. I myself am finding it hard to be objective, 'cause I've never been able to stand Oscar and find it hard to say anything good about him. So I'm still over the top that he got his butt handed to him.

But where I disagree is that Manny is in his peak weight. Regardless of him beating DLH so easily, I think Manny is in over his head against other top WW's. Don't be fooled with the ease with which he dismantled the old man. Manny needs to go back down. 140? Absolutely... 'cause I also agree he beats Hatton hands down.

I also got a little wary when I saw that Pac was actually weighing more then Oscar.
I also didnt like the way it looked like his skin seemed to be sagging when he warming up,and said it when I saw it.

Great win from the Pac man against Oscar but i think he should either go back down to lightweight or fight at light welterweight but i think if he fights Hatton Hatton will win. Pac was Awesome last night but 1 thing i will say is its easy to look good against a guy who is not throwing punches Hatton would be a lot tougher fight than Oscar i think the best fights out there right now for Pac are either JMM,Hatton or Mayweather if he comes out of retirement.

good read ICB but i think dlh wasnt weight drained. weight drained fighters dont sweat as much when warming up for the fight. dlh was sweaty before he went on the ring.

he also was below the weight limit weeks before the fight. it was the right strategy to lose the extra pounds early. roach is right that dlh's stomach shrunk so when he rehydrated he was only able to eat as much as his shrunk stomach can handle.

ive watched the fight three times now and dlh was actually game to fight pac. he tried to jab, he dug at pacs body and even tried to maul him by holding pacs nape and punching him three times. dlh was actually trying to hit pac,dlh wasnt like a human punching bag as i first watched it live.

pac made dlh look wasted and slow, dlh was game until the fourth round. on the seventh i knew dlh gave up already.

as for hatton he will get murdered by pac, pacs style feeds from fighters who likes to go forward. fighters who thinks they can out punch and out speed pac.

pbf on the other hand will give pac tons of problems. only pbf and jmm can beat pac...

I couldn't really analyze the fight in an efficient way because I was blinded by the tears of joy.

I think at one point I said I'd name my first son Manny if he beat ODLH. I'm not sure if that was exactly it so I can't be held to that.

Alright! A voice of reason on the whole "moving up in weight" thing. reps for that.

    ICE, GREAT POST!

I always like to wait til the forums calm down before posting something again after a big fight. I think a fight with Hatton is almost a sure thing. If Manny wins that fight, then a fight with Mayweather would just be too easy to sell.

The one thing I would be most curious to know is if Floyd's antics can get to Manny being that he never takes anything personal.

I at first thought a fight with Floyd would be a mismatch physically. After seeing the fight last night, it would be on even ground completely. A Manny win is GREAT for the sport of boxing. Upcoming fights with Hatton and Mayweather would be HUGE EVENTS! Even bigger than "The Dream Match"

If Floyd came out of retirement for a big payday against Pac, I would give the edge to Floyd just for how he has pretty much shown NO FLAWS in the ring. Then again, I could get another surprise with a Pac win. It would make an interesting fight. I want to see Pac loose not because I dislike Pac but because I want to see how his fans react. But I rather see Floyd loose and see how he takes it. Same thing with ODLH when I wanted to see him loose not so much because I didn't like ODLH but because I wanted to see HBO's reaction .

If Pac can go up and down in weight like Armstrong did, then lots of exciting fights await us as well as big paychecks for him, he deserves them.

pac lost to morales before. im sure you were already on this site when that happend. life went on and pac got his revenge.. twice! thats just how it is man.. you win some you lose some. father time will catch up with pac as it did to other fighters and the torch will be passed on once again. dont worry, we will be hurt when he loses but life has to go on and you know he will be back.

I totally agree, a Hatton fight would be fireworks for as long as it lasted.

I don't think Manny should fight at 147 again but a Floyd fight would be fun, Floyd's defence can't cope with the speed Manny has so it probably won't happen. I thought Manny would be VISIBLY slower at 147, he looks just as fast and has great movement and defence these days.

All I have to say is that there were two big rivalry bunches in boxing in the 21st century... you had the hbo stars, Mosley, Floyd, Oscar, etc... and you had the little big star guys, Morales, Barrera, Pacquiao...

... Finally one of them grew UP and fought one of the other fighters up in their weight class.

Albeit older Oscar.... nobody expected a blow out!!!! Destruction! (phillipino predictions don't count)

Tells you JUST how good Juan Manuel Marquez and Erik Morales REALLY are.

Great stuff..! This is exactly what i've been saying and you are spot on.. Most people are saying that because of how Oscar fought, you couldn't tell shit about Pac... That is Rubbish.. They guy has put on 10 pounds from his last fight, and a good 15 from the weight he's been dominating at, and he still looks freakin amazing in every way that he has before.. And in some ways even better.. Every ounce of his body, every ounce of that extra pounds was put towards being a 100% athlete and fighter....
He's pound for pound number one, and the fact he's lost nothing going up weight proves a LOT.. Regardless of Oscar..
And his chin has been proven in the past so Oscar didn't need to drill that all night for us to learn anything.. I think Pac could have taken Oscars punches most of the night if they landed, and he still would have won...

If I can't rep you now ICB I will as soon as I can.. You've said it straight up, and regardless of what Oscar did, Pac has proved he is as good at 140 to 145 as he was at his 130 p4p best...

I think it'll go down the same way, they'll cash in on hatton BEFORE getting to Floyd. If Pac can do a number on Hatton then Floyd will find it hard to refuse.

In an ideal world Floyd would come back a little earlier and take on one of the bonafide welters (Williams/Marg), if he could beat one of those AND Pac, then his legacy could never be doubted.
