    Default Question about Jab, Cross, Left Head Hook combination

    I've been trying to come up with an easy flurry combination that is devastating if used correctly. The combination I was thinking of was the classic 1-2-3 Jab Cross Left Head Hook combination. It is a move in combination, moving in with the Jab, a short compact Cross, and a Left Hook that hopefully either hits the chin or the temple, causing a knockout.

    I liked the combination, but I feel it was too short and I didn't want to end on a Left Hook, since I'm better suited to the Cross. So I made it something like 1-2-3-2-3-2 (Jab, Cross Left Hook, Cross, Left Hook, Cross), a flast flurry, combining the stereotypical Outside Fighter's 1-2 with the Inside Fighter's more lethal 2-3-2 or 3-2-3 combinations.

    However, I'm wanting to know if I should shorten the first Cross punch, like a 1-2-3 combination, where you move in with a Jab, short Cross, and strong Left Head Hook. I think it if you lengethen out the Cross in the 1-2-3 combination, it will throw off your balance when you let loose the Cross, Left Head Hook, Cross follow through. What do you guys think?

    I think you're grossly over-thinking this.

    Uhm, yeah. Rather than think about this, you should test these combinations on a live, resisting sparring partner and see what works in practice.

    It'll be fun, trust me.

    If your throwing punches right you shouldnt be going off balance. Id worry more about your balance first if I were you

    THE BEST COMBOS R THE SIMPLE ONES N U DONT HAVE 2 THROW A MILLION PUNCHES. A GOOD COMBO IS 1-2 LEFT HOOK RIGHT HAND. OR JAB 2 THE HAED JAB 2 THE BODY STRAIGHT RIGHT TO THE HEAD LEFT HOOK. YOUR COMBOS SHOULD FLOW IF THEY DONT FLOW DONT THROW LOL

    Like Von says dont over think stuff before you can just do it freely;

    or it will effect your natural speed; if your head is full up, you cant think on reaction, if you cannot flow in thought and let it be natural you cant move naturally either.

    At first its like a drummer ,you learn parradilles and cluffs and combos with set rythems, then once you got them; you play around with them and get your own style or adapt them to suit a certain job.

    But once you got your sets down in boxing and they are natural and they flow why not take it to the next level;

    if you want to go making up your own combos for tactical reasons that always count then think about everything in reverse from your opponents point:

    Where would his arm go in reaction to my first shot if i hit him here or there ,where is the natural opening going to be for my next shot and so on.

    What if i move in here choke his arm down or side step while that arm of his reacts so Im even further in the mix?

    What if i start the combo off by covering up, taking the shot, flowing with his movment but correcting my legs so Im then following his shot home as his arm retreats so his arm covers the path of mine so my shot is unseen,my second shot is low as Im moving in.

    What about I move here using his arm for cover of his own vision so i start going under his elbow from the outside, Hmm step in and out that side hook high on the same side as his arm goes to cover his ribs, load legs ,correct my distance back to the original rib target with the hardest of all shots as his elbow rises.

    Combos begining from me blocking,covering, ducking or moving and then going around his arm.

    Setting up a combo off of his paticular style of defence that finishes with a bomb while Im on the move to accentuate it even more.
