Good on Calzaghe i think he was losing the hunger last year.He was a great fighter maybe now he has gone he will get the respect he deserves as a fight that went unbeaten in 46fights.

Happy retirement Joe.

recognition came a bit late in his career than i think hed of liked i think the longer hes gone the more people will realise what a great champ he was.
See ya !! I guess that must mean boxing is finished now....the only reason this dying buisness was holding on was in hopes of calzaghe saving it, now we're all doomed. I guess we'll have to settle someone new to take out boxings senior citizens...

Good riddance
I think we all would have liked to see him fight either Johnson or Dawson. I can't really slight Calzaghe for this retirement though, he's had a great career. With him vacating at 175 that would mean, Dawson/Hopkins would be for the Ring title, could be an interesting fight right there.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.
Well, good for him.I have no illwill towards the man but never a huge fan of his style.I think he will be one...rightly or wrongly.....that will ALWAYS generate firm lines in debate.Realistically,A Hopkins rematch would be luke-warm at best.Glad he's going out on top and means it.I suspect Hopkins will ramp up the inflamatory rhetoric, calling him out more so hoping for a 2nd go.But I suspect.....Hopkins vs.Dawson, with Tarver taking step aside...hopefully
He really doesn't have anything left to prove at all. He's the best super middleweight ever. He should retire now. There will always be someone that us fans will bring out of the woodwork to be a serious threat but once he beat Kessler AND Hopkins, it was enough for me.
Before Moono replies.
JOE CALZAGHE IS A GREAT FIGHTER I WISH MANNY PACQUIAO WAS MORE LIKE HIM HAHAHA
yeah he beat some top guys towards the end of it. lacy, kessler, hopkins. hopkins regardless of his age some people will say the hopkins of today is better than the hopkins of old. plus he fought him on his first trip up 2 LHW where hopkins was the ring champ. i no alot of people hate on him,but joe came up the hard way, not much tv exposure. hes not like alot of so called stars today where there built and hyped up from day one. the mans paid his dues.
