Default Why the WBA is a garbage #611

The WBA has now decided to have two champions at Featherweight. Chris John with be their WBA featherweight "super champion" and the winner of Gamboa's next fight will be the "regular" featherweight champion.

I am sure Chris John is pleased that he will now have a co-champion. Does a wba title have any value anymore?

The WBA title has a very specific dollar value for the WBA.

All ofthe belts are useless but people wont ignore them. If the fighters said screw the belts and stopped paying the sanctioning fees that would be the end of that. people still put a value on them

WBA has something like "regular WBA belt" and "super WBA belt".

Something you order at fast food drive thru.

You should right a short book on the ridiculousness of the WBA man.

I think it would be an awesome book if made about corruption and behind the scenes shady deals that have happened in boxing since its invention. Dives, drug tests, commissions, mafia, lot of material to work with.

    From Dan Rafael today:

John merely the latest victim of WBA
    Wednesday, March 18, 2009

    • More insanity from the represensible WBA: Chris John is the WBA featherweight titleholder. He is an outstanding fighter. He is not injured. He defended his title Feb. 28 in a tremendous fight against Rocky Juarez. And John is not a unified titleholder, the excuse the WBA uses to make a fighter a so-called "super champion" before crowning a "regular champion" in order to grab a second sanctioning fee in the same division. But now, in an even more obvious and desperate attempt to line its pockets, the WBA is sanctioning a fight between Yuriorkis Gamboa and Jose "Cheo" Rojas for a so-called vacant featherweight belt (or interim belt) April 17. Last time I checked, John was the noninjured, nonunified beltholder and was not behind on his mandatory obligation. The WBA should be ashamed of itself yet again, but as we all have learned, it has no shame. Frankly, John and his people ought to sue the WBA for fraud. This is absolutely despicable.

Wow, I like Gamboa and am glad to see him get the shot, but that's just ridiculous. You can't just take away someone's belt because you feel like it & you want some more money. I swear the alphabets are scum

Its all about $$ with the WBA Gamboas younger and more marketable than John, so theyd rather him be their champion. Utter BS.
