Default Arthur: No desire to fight Khan in non-title bout

EDINBURGH'S former WBO super featherweight champion Alex Arthur has scoffed at public suggestions made over the weekend that he is desperately seeking a ring showdown with Amir Khan.
Said Arthur: "While it's true that the injury which KO'd me boxing at Bellahouston last weekend, in what would have been my first ever pro lightweight bout, has virtually cleared up and I will box again in May, talk of me wanting to fight Amir Khan in the near future is nonsense.

"The only circumstance in which I would ever agree to fighting Khan would be in a world title clash, but certainly not any kind of bout like a non-title ten rounder. Such a fight would be economic nonsense for both Khan and I.

"My comeback strategy has not wavered from what I outlined a couple of months ago, two eight or ten round non-title scraps to get me used to boxing at lightweight then some of kind of world lightweight title fight

Anyone think Alex will ever get the chance to fight Khan.

Ive always been a fan of Alex Arthur. If Alex could recapture some of the form he had at the beginning of his career, I'm positive Alex would spark khan out.

But as i said - I'm a fan of his.

Not a prayer. I really don't think Alex is anything more than a domestic level fighter who got lucky that Guzman didn't make the weight. He was gifted the interim title against a Gogaladze, a fighter not even close to world class and was then upgraded without beating the champion. Wasn't at all surprised Cook outboxed him. Arthur has delusions of grandure. He doesn't stand a chance against any top lightweight in my opinion, and Khan would kill him.

No holding back from you then.

His last couple of fights have been very poor. Seemed like he didn't have the heart for it. Hope he can come back and prove you wrong.

    Come on Alex.

If Khan does win the fight with Kotelnik then you can be damn sure there will be title defences against Alex Arthur and Gavin Rees. Its how Warren operates and they are both pretty safe defenses for Amir.

Still he has to beat Kotelnik and that is going to be very difficult.

Yeah I'm really not a fan. I feel the same about Ricky Burns. Above domestic level I don't believe he has what it takes. Scotland is better getting behind someone like Appleby. He may have lost to Lindsay, but he can bounce back and improve.
