Default Pacquiao's former foe, JMM gets $3 million plus purse against PBF

Pacquiao's former foe, JMM gets $3 million plus purse against PBF...

"Marquez is taking on a massive challenge by moving up to welterweight to face unretiring Floyd Mayweather Jr., who yielded his No. 1 pound-for-pound spot when he retired last year. Marquez faces a very difficult fight, but give him credit for taking the risk. (Of course, the almost $4 million guaranteed payday made the decision much easier.)"

JMM getting $3M+ of the pie while PBF gets a big $15M... It looks like JMM a tune up opponent for PBF... The purse split is something like 80-20 in favor of PBF...

Is $3M+ enough for a possible Gatti-like beatdown??

"Trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr. views the July 18 showdown between his son Floyd Mayweather Jr, and WBA/WBO lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez, as a one-sided mismatch. He compares the fight to his son's one-sided beatdown of Arturo Gatti from 2005. Mayweather pounded Gatti for six rounds before the fight was stopped. He says the fight is so one-sided that he can't believe HBO placed it on pay-per-view. Marquez moves up be nearly two weight divisions to meet Mayweather at and agreed-upon weight of 144-pounds."

    Yeah tough job.
I'll be going for the underdog all the way, but give him not much hope it'll get bloody and will ruin Juan if he is drained and Floyd times him easily comming in.
But that cash will go along way in Mexico.

Yeah I agree, the money is decent considering this could be JMM's highest purse ever but I feel Team JMM is giving much to PBF's wishes who reportedly will get $15 million for this fight... It looks like a 80-20 purse split which seems unfair to JMM who jumped 2 weight divisions to make this fight and facing a very big risk...

    Where's the source for this?

The Golden Boy & Mayweather Promotions announcements last month stipulated it was 75-25 split in favour of Mayweather.

It says "almost $4 million" purse for JMM and I'm guessing he actually gets $3.75M... PBF gets $15M for this fight so it's a 80-20 purse split in favor of Money May... Even a 75-25 purse split is still unfair... At least 70-30 is more like it... Poor JMM...

What was his biggest payday before this ( I mean I'm sure it was the second Pac fight but anybody know how much he made?)

Is it not just the boxer Mayweather Jr but also Mayweather Promotions included in that $15M figure or am I the only one to notice it?

I think the $15M is for PBF only... It's seldom published how much money a certain promotional company got...

I read Pacquiao's earning for De La Hoya fight were over $20 Million. His $11 million purse plus, the 1.25 Million PPV split.

His Pacquiao/Hatton purse plus the PPV split will also put him over $22-$25 million but the number of UK PPVs haven't been published, as far as I know. I recall a guesstimate of ~850K US Buys and ~500K UK buys which would put the total somewhere in the neighborhood of ~1.35-1.4 Million PPV total buys being split up. That is 100k-200K more PPV buys than the De La Hoya bout. The 500K was unsubstantiated rumor from an inside UK television source, I think it was a Dan R (ESPN) Article, I forget but a very conservative guess considering the estimates were to be 800K+ and over 1 million buys for the UK.

I think JMM got around $1 million in the PAC rematch... JMM also got around $700,000 in the Barrera fight...

JMM doesn't really command that much purse but what's unfair in the PBF fight is the 80-20 purse split considering there's around $19 million total purse money...

I always wondered what the purse split was between Juan and Floyd. I think Juan is getting absolutely robbed!

He's the one with all the adjusting to do and Floyd gets that big a slice of the pie!?

PBF should stop this "I should get 80% attitude". Pac won't accept less than 50%.

I believe 50-50 is fair. BOth of them are pound for pound king.
