Pernell has some great names on his resume. Take Roger Mayweather, Azumah Nelson, Julio Cesar Chavez, Buddy McGirt, Delahoya and Trinidad. Although not all of his bouts were victories, as far as the opposition is concerned it's a lot better than Pacquiao's.
Pacquiao seems to be content with making his curtain call after a few more fights, yet some of the best fights that he can have are yet to be made.
If you hear a voice within you saying that I am not a painter, then by all means paint and that voice will be silenced.
Migirt wasn't that great, Chavez was moving up and past his prime, as was Azumah Nelson to a greater degree. Oscar was still very green, and Trinidad beat Whitaker way too easily. Blame cocaine all you want, Whitaker as soon as his reflexes were gone had nothing else to offer against elite fighters. He was a great fighter, but he relied way too much on his reflexes IMO to beat faster guys like PAcquiao, Mayweather, M. Taylor, Mosley, etc. I am not trying to say any of them are better ,but Pacquiao gets a higher ranking p4p because he had better competition against more ATG's, and he will have foughten a ton more by the end of his career. If anything IMO Whitaker's resume like Roy JOnes Jr's never matched up to their talent. Guys like Leonard, Ali, and Robinson it certainly did, and PAcquiao's is begining to, but Roy JOnes Jr, Mayweather, and WHitaker have rarely been seriously pushed in their career and I think its because they were too much better than guys who were good fighters, but not elites.
I am tired people comparing guys like Roger Mayweather and Mcgirt to guys like Morales and Barrera. They fell closer along the lines of David Diaz.
Honestly WHitaker greats in the form of De La Hoya(still young and not at his prime), Trinidad(obviosuly Whitaker was past it, and it wasn't competitive), JCC(past his prime and moving up which doesn't comply well with his skillset), and Azumah Nelson(same thing as JCC)
