    VERY dodgy stoppage

ignore that moron nelson that was a completely unneccesary stoppage

the german fella had his hands up and looked completely ready to go only to be stunned when the ref called it off.

2nd time in 3 weeks us fight fans get screwed over!!!

He's Finnish & had the ref let it go on, Asikainen would have finished the round. I've seen him in a good number of fights & I've always been impressed by his recovery. I was amazed he got up from the left hook. He seemed ready to go after the ref counted to 4 & then actually patiently waited. That was a really dodgy stoppage, I'm sick of seeing that in fights in the UK favouring the house fighter.

I remember about a year back Ricky Burns was getting schooled by a Ghanaian fighter, caught him with one good punch & the ref stepped in. At least this wasn't as bad as that.

That was a definate quick stoppage. The first knockdown was strong but the second seemed more a balance issue, although I might be wrong.......

    (German fella)

Asikainen has badly gone down hill over the past year or so. I don't think the stoppage was too bad.

ridiculous. Remember seeing paul truscott fight a ghanian fella a year or so back for a commonwealth title, commentators were proclaiming truscott as a potential real deal despite the fact in his 13 wins he only managed 1 ko. Suffice to say the ghanian won at the very least 8 of the 12 rounds and ended up getting screwed on a decision. Thank god for john simpson, lol

Really pleased to see chello renda win tonight. The guy is so underrated. Really hoping he gets a crack at murray next up over 12 rounds!!

There's a lesson in that. If you're Ghanaian, don't come fight in the UK. Especially on a Frank Warren bill

Tonight was a joke. I thought Asikainen was gone after the 1st KD, but he seemed to recover & I felt he kind of stumbled back away from Macklin on the 2nd. I'm big on Macklin, I think he's got a great left hook & is much better at 160, always felt he looked a bit drained at 154, & he showed it tonight. Still that doesn't mean I'm going to ignore that Asikainen deserved to finish the round & come out for the next.

pretty sure asikainen had previously KO`d sebastien sylvester who from what ive seen is an equal match for macklin at the very least.

Only thing the slightest bit interesting to come from tonight is that at least sky announced fury-big john 2 and admitted in no uncertain terms the 1st fight got messed up!!

Maybe or not Asikainen could have survived the round, but it's hard to blame british boxing for the decision of an Italian ref.

Macklin's shot which sent Asikainen down was an absolute peach, and Asikainen never seemed to come back from that. He didn't even try to punch after that, just leap arms open trying to catch Macklin in a clinch. I think it was the fact that Asikainen swivelled towards his corner, then turned back to the ref which did it for him, as it didn't look totally composed.

Also, from the TV pics, Asikainen had very dark coloured irises, which made him look as though he was pretty dazed, even during his ring entrance.

I missed it, anyone got a clip of it

How do you think Macklin fairs against Slyvester?? I think thats a great fight for Matty obviously would be bit scared to go over to Germany for that one.

Likes of sylvester, lorenzo are winnable for macklin

He showed real quality in finishing an opponent off last night, as long as he doesnt get ahead of himself i see no reason why he cant one day fight for a world title in his own backyard!!

still 8hours since the fight happened and im still p*ssed off.................terrible stoppage

How did Asikainen get up from the first knock down? should of let the fight carry on but i recon Macklin would of stopped him in the second.

Good bill of boxing i thought.

Wasn't too sure about the stoppage, but it was a great win for Macklin, hopefully know he can go on and fight for a world title soon

Macklin can win a version of the belt, he is a good fighter.
