Tough guy he was, gave the great Emmile Griffith two of his toughest fights. I will remember him for his fights with Hedgemon Lewis though. I know he seemingly disappeared for years after his career ended, but but sad to hear he has died. RIP Champ.

R.I.P Ernie a true warrior a true champ
Don't think Ive had the pleasure of seeing him but sounds an all out comer w/ rounds v Lewis, mantequilla Napoles and Griffith.Rest in peace Ernie.
Danny "Little Red" Lopez was a somebody. He had two good matches with Salvador Sanchez.
It was "lil Red". I watched the fights and they were competitive, but my dad said that Danny was coming to the end of his career when he fought Sal Sanchez.
'Lil Red is one of my father's fave boxer... R.I.P Ernie

R.I.P. Tough fighter unfortunately I've only seen the Emile Griffith fight's but he was tough.
Dannys fight with Mike Ayala is one of the greatest in history...but Ernie was a good fighter himself who was unlucky to have never held a world title, at least not to my knowlegde. He was around in a tough era of fighters but in pretty much any other era, he would have been champ.
