Punch Power: 225 | | Don King was the real winner of Haye v Valuev Said it on another thread but I'll say it again....
For a British fighter to win in Germany on points by running away you've got to check out the power behind that fight. I think there are promoters behind that fight that saw that the money to be made for themselves on future matches against smaller fighters (John Ruiz, Don?) would be much greater if David got the nod!
Clear your diaries because Haye will fight the Klitschko's in 2013, after he's taken care of the real cream of the heavyweight crop like Ruiz, Rahman, Botha, Oquendo, etc....
As soon as Don King's hairy mop came into the picture it all became clear. He may have been making a few dollars from Valuev's fights in Germany but the rest of the world would'nt pay shit to sit through one of Valuev's bore-a-thons.
Enter David Haye, and Don's chance to cash in on his worldwide marketability (good looks, hard punching etc...)..
But David did NOT rip the title away from the Beast and Nicolai deserved to win...
This was a promoter influenced verdict based on his own possible future earnings..
I'm in no doubt that we are going to get our moneys worth with David as HW king but it still stinks...

I'm talking about the fight tonight and the politics behind it Big H.. | So am I mate, my point was, that whomever won most rounds DESERVED to win and anything else about Champions/Challengers/Venues/Crooked promoters should be irrelevant if the guy that won most rounds got the verdict. If you think Valuev won more rounds then fair enough. |

I thought Valuev won it by 3 rounds simply by Hayes reluctance to engage (and back up his big pre-fight talk) for much of the fight.
If thats the criteria then maybe my thoughts of dirty dealings may be off the mark.. But I stick by my impressions...

Punch Power: 2016 | | Re: Don King was the real winner of Haye v Valuev Haye won in a shit fashion but he won because Valuev landed eff all (on old china chin) for 12 rounds.
Shit, shit, boringly shit fight. But had Haye been KO'd everyone would have been calling him an overrated pathetic shit cunt.
Haye used his brain, got the win and pissed everyone off because they didn't see what they were expecting.

Cheers BH | If you think Valuev won by 3 rounds then you have a right to think that the fix was in. I just can't see that scoring, coz much as I don't rate Haye, Valuev was horrendous and just plodded forward like a mummy and swatted thin air all night. Was still very close though and I would have had no problem with 114-114 or 115-113 either way. |

If the fight is shit its usually because Valuev had the ability to keep it that way. Haye seemed content to fight shit with shit..
My impression was that Valuev seemed to win by three shits. |

Punch Power: 225 | | Re: Don King was the real winner of Haye v Valuev It may not have been a robbery like Lewis v Holyfield but does anyone doubt that King's 'influence' came into play that night?
Same face, same result. King wins again..
And don't get me started on the Kennedy assassination (only kiddin!)

My impression was that Valuev seemed to win by three shits. | And that is why heavyweight is so unappealing these days... How many fights can you describe as two fighters (insert bolded text here)....
Get these giant freaks of nature who are only champs because of their enormous size out of boxing, and bring back the heavyweight ATHLETES who's number one craft is boxing and bringing the pain..... Not use your giant size to keep someone away and win on points..... It is boring as sh!t for boxing, and how many belts are exchanged in this way, while fans are falling asleep in the stands....
I mean, it's fine, we have so many other divisions of boxing which keep boxing as the number one sport on the planet, but if the recipe for a certain division is the more boring you can make the fight, the better chance you have of winning, then of course the excitement is going to be at a minimum.

The likes of Tyson and Holyfield were similar size's to Haye and I would put a fortune on them in their primes walking through all todays HW's. They were class operators! |

They were class operators! | Tyson wasn't even 6 ft I believe, but I agree with your point about American fighters going to other easier sports. Unfortunately it's the nature of the game, fights are too infrequent and there can only really be one true champion. The reason the heavies are packed with europeans is because we have no sport that is as extreme as American Football when it comes to physique. I truely believe there is more than one Roy Jones playing in the NFL right now. | |
