    Default Nigel Benn vs Calzaghe

My boxing idol of my youth was and still is Nigel Benn.I've been watching his fights over again on dvds over the last few days.Nigel Benn retired as Calzaghe turned pro.I was just wondering who would have won if both met at supermiddleweight in they primes.Who would you say would win between them?

It would have been a really tasty fight,it makes my mouth water just thinking about it.

Love Nigel Benn. He's power and heart and desire could have dismantled Calzaghe.

    Respect!!!!

    Tough one!

I grew up with Benn aswell, but think Joe would hae edged it on points, with his extra style impressing the judges that little bit more.

Joe was vulnerable and had a few knockdowns, I think Benn would have hyped him up into a brawl and wouls have tagged him good style.

As much as i love joe,I would have to go with Benn on this one.I think he would have won with a late stoppage.

Much as i admire Nigel Benn, Calzaghe is just on another level.
Calzaghe at his best would have overwhelmed Benn in the mid - late rounds.

I love Benn too, but Calzaghe would have sorted him out

Benn is probably my favourite fighter ever, but I think Calzaghe would've made him look stupid and won a comfortable UD

    more tippy-tappy punching from Joe.

I think both would have hit the deck. IF Benn whirlwinded him early the fight then Benn by tko, if JC makes it past 4/5 he tickles Benn to a decision.

I agree Benn either stops him early of Calzaghe takes control to win a close UD.

Why is this in the off-topic section

Benn that fought McClellan would give it a real go but Joe would get a decision. Benn was losing that war.

Benn for me was everything and fighter should be,he was tough, game, had awesome power in both hands, and took risks.I mean he was a peoples champ when i was growing up as a kid in the 80s.He was honest to his own opinion.Benn is he prime was such a danger. He will forever be one my favourite boxers of all time, especially in britain.Their sure dont make raw fighters like him anymore. He was just soo great and exciting to watch, even when he lost to Eubank, you just knew he gave everything.Benn held the record while serving in the army as undefeated.
