Default John Murray Taking On Mezaache "In America"?

Been getting really frustrated at the lack of any info from Hennessey regards John Murray and is Euro title clash against Anthony Mezaache. Done some digging and found a few articles that lead to the idea of the bout taking place in Fayetteville in the Crown Coliseum. Bizarre...... Its also supposed to be screened on Showtime. I'm guessin this is down to Hennesseys failure to land UK TV deals..... Few articles below but the top one is the main....

Mezaache has vacated mate, looks like he is getting a shot at the WBC, now the rumour is Soto is no longer fighting Diaz and it is now Soto v Mezaache on the Mayweather card.

But for certain Mezzaache has vacated and Murray will fight the number 1 ranked fighter in europe cant remember his name. But here it is:

John Murray’s painstaking wait to challenge for European honours will continue following European lightweight champion Anthony Mezaache’s decision to relinquish his title. Murray will now contest the vacant European crown against a co-challenger to be determined by the EBU.

The unbeaten Murray, who last fought in October when stopping Jon Thaxton to retain his British title, has been waiting impatiently on the sidelines for confirmation of a date and venue for his European challenge to Mezaache. In the meantime, the Manchester slugger has had to endure the frustration of seeing domestic rival Kevin Mitchell defeat previous Murray-target Breidis Prescott and steal a march on his quest for world honours.

Mezaache’s reasoning isn’t clear but the Frenchman’s decision could suggest that he is about to challenge for the WBC lightweight title. Reigning WBC champion Edwin Valero has been made “champion in recess” by president José Sulaimán after sustaining a nasty cut in his recent title defence against Antonio DeMarco.

This rather bizarre ruling will see the WBC lightweight championship being declared temporarily vacant to allow other boxers to contest the title whilst Valero’s injury heals in the interim period. Mezache, currently ranked at two by the WBC, could be paired with Humberto Soto for the “vacant” world title.

Hopefully, the identify of Murray’s European co-challenger will be decided within the next few days. Kevin Mitchell, who is lining up a WBO title challenge to Michael Katsidis, is ranked at 1 by the EBU. Ukrainian Andrei Kudriavtsev is ranked at number 2 whilst reigning Commonwealth champion Lee McAllister, who Murray stopped in January 2008, is currently ranked third.

Nuts, I was just about to PM you pal and see if you knew anything.

Soto would flatten Mezaache without even breaking sweat, just like he did against Benoit Gaudet....... Although, Soto is slated for the Pac Clottey undercard i'm sure of it so when would Mezaache get his shot. I hope he doesn't the tosser....

I've also just opened the Manc Evenin News and there is a small article about how Mezaache vacated. Shit. Murray should just beat whoever is the next in line then vacate and forget about it. Lee Mcallister is No 2 reanked which is a joke and shows how much of a waste of time the Euro title is.....

Fat Mick is a joke, worst promoter out there. he has had over 6 months to get Mezaache in the ring and now Mezaache ( one of the worst title contenders in a while ) has a possible shot on one the biggest PPV events ever!!!

Murray v Soto would of been a great fight and no doubt Murray's style win or loose would of gained him many fans on a bill like that, I feel for John so much he needs to be more active seems like the boxing world is passing him by.

Murray would of beat Mezaache in 6 rounds now he probably has to wait another 12-18 months for a world title shot. im gutted for him.

You said exactly what i was saying in my head but am too nice to spout out. Ha...... Right on... I really like Murray, he comes to fight, and he certainly would have pasted Mezaache, that I have no doubt about. John is made for a TV audience wanting to watch an entertaining fight. He should be in Ward Gatti type fights for all to see. I also feel that he'd paste Mitchell too, just chase him and batter him into submission.....

Good thing is he's still got age on his side but he needs to realise time is precious.....
