De la Hoya said the same thing. They are talking about pure one punch power. Pac overwhelms his opponents with barrages of punches from all angles. Thats what does the trick. And Clottey always waits for his turn to punch. Pac doesn't give you a turn. This fight was very predictable.

Is Clottey reluctant to engage? Afraid to engage? Or has less openings to engage?

I don't think Manny does hit that hard. It's the volume and speed that overwhelms people and they can't keep up. I think the Hatton KO was so bad because Hatton's chin has been on the wane since Tyszu. Collazo nearly had him, Urango rocked him to the body, Mayweather did a double KO and even Lazcano had him wobbly. Stick him in with Manny who has pop and punches from angles you aren't expecting and out you go. Cotto has holes in his chin and has been regularly checked on his way up, but it was the ref who stopped it, Cotto would have got through the round. DLH wasn't knocked down and simply quit and Clottey made it through by not punching back. Manny has power, but I don't think he has the same one punch power of a fighter like Mosley.

No matter how much some of us wanted Clottey to produce something, most of us knew what would happen. It was predictable. You knew Clottey wouldn't throw many punches nor take the fight to Manny. And you knew Manny would likely throw a hundred punches a round as a consequence. A wide points win was always the most likely result.

His problem wasn't being hit hard it was being hit so often and not being willing to punch through it or at all.Easy to say from the living room,I know but its a pattern with him.He had Cotto all but gone and I believe there to be finished. He eases and is too content, seems he just wants to be share the spotlight rather than attempt to take it for himself.

Clottey's face always looked good even in his losing fights. Against Pacquiao (tho I think Clottey has a broken nose), against Cotto, against Margarito, against Baldomir. Clottey's face looked unscatched in those fights he lost.

Manny's power at this weight has been surprising to me (therein lies the drugs argument), so I disagree with the thought that its just speed and angles. Hatton's chin was on the wane but that was an ungodly KO. He hurt Cotto badly, capital letters BADLY, with single punches. Only reason Cotto survived as much as he did was he got on his bike big time. ODLH and Clottey have always been very durable guys so its not surprising he didn't KO them with one shot or many shots but he got their attention without a doubt.

Clottey should have no trouble eating Pacquiao's pillow punches, right?

He has an abundance of physical tools, however Clottey just doesn't have the mental make up of a great fighter.

Pacquiao is a very hard hitting Superlightweight.

not enough drugs on pacs body otherwise he wouldve won via KO. peds can make you better against anyone provided the opponent is clean. so whether you have a granite chin you will go down against a boxer who is juiced up.

one more thing tyson can open up a guard by simply punching the opponents glove out of the way.

so pac took too little juice cause he wasnt able to move clots gloves at all.

Great quote in that film Facing Ali - I can't remember who it was from, perhaps Ron Lyle?

Anyway, he's trying to describe the difference between Foreman and Frazier. He says: "Getting hit by George is like getting hit by a truck doing 30 miles an hour, while getting hit by Joe is like getting hit by a Pontiac doing 70 miles an hour. They both hurt, but it's different."
"I take good care of my people. I like to inflict permanent psychological damage."

Clearly he only fought Clottey in order to see whether he could retain his power without all the juice, like a trial run before he could agree to the blood testing against Floyd. Now the fight won't get made because he can't, it's obvious
