Default Could Sergio Martinez Upset Floyd Mayweather Jr ?

This fight would take place at Jr Middleweight, and Floyd Mayweather Jr certainly isn't no Jr Middleweight. Infact i think he's a natural Jr Welterweight, Sergio Martinez has the size and the speed.

Aswell as the Southpaw stance which will give Floyd Mayweather Jr problems, i've never ever bet against Floyd Mayweather Jr. And im not going to do now, but i can really sense an upset here.

Is Martinez moving back to 154? I thought he was staying at 160 now?

Hell can he even make 154?

Well im guessing its at 154, theres no way Floyd Mayweather Jr can make 160. Considering he couldn't even legitmately make the Jr Middleweight limit vs ODLH, unless its a catchweight i really don't know.

I'd have to say that this could be one step too far, but who knows..... I personally like Martinez, but also think he doesn't have a whole lot of variety. Even Pavlik started to figure him out before he got cut and wilted. Thing is there, that Mayweather could be out cold inisde 3 before he figures him out as the way Williams went down again Martinez, I say Martinez has plenty of power to stop Floyd. Tough one to call and a definate threat. Not sure about 160 though....

Floyd is a natural Welterweight now.

He couldn't make 144 for the Marquez fight last year, no way does he make 140.

    I favor Floyd against Martinez.

Martinez is bigger and has boxing skills but he is hittable and he does seem to take rounds off which is something you can't afford to do against Mayweather.

Not with those hands down like that.Floyd way to sharp and would have that right hand zeroed in,with rapid combinations.

Unless this is for the 160lb belt what is the point?? Am pretty sure the mention of fighting Martinez is due to the fact Mayweather can win another title in another division.

with a LUCKY punch yes, otherwise no. I am saying this without remorse I will not be suprised if Mayweather wins a 6th division title at 160. As much as I dislike the man, he is the man until beaten.

Interesting thread but unfortunately it's never going to happen. Well, it might but not without Floyd making Martinez lose a pretty good amount of weight to make it happen. Floyd makes the rules in this negotiation so I don't see him losing this one. But he won't fight Williams so I don't see him fighting Martinez.

At the moment, I find it very hard to bet against Mayweather for most of the potential fights he could be involved in...

Wouldn't really be an upset...Sergio is a skilled bigger man.

Martinez has the wrong skill set to beat Mayweather.

Floyd is faster than him, even if they fought at 160, Floyd would just come in lighter and use his speed and skill to his advantage.

Martinez is skilled at moving and boxing, but he isn't skilled at hitting and not being hit, similar to Mosley, but not quite as fast. I think Floyd would take a couple of rounds to dial in his right hand, but after than he dominate the fight, and likely be the aggressor.

Martinez would be a hard nights work for Floyd. I know some people said the same about Mosley but at 154 Martinez presents more problems than Oscar or Shane did and Sergio is alot closer to his prime.

Mayweather struggles with southpaws. Corley and Judah both caused him trouble with speedy lead right hooks that knocked Floyd off balance and appeared to stun him. Sergio is quick but he has weight behind it too. Also Floyds key weapon of the left jab to the body isnt as effective against guys who lead with their right foot. An elusive target will force Floyd to commit more to his shots and over extend with his right cross which will leave a counter opportunity. Having said that Id still favour Floyd. Handspeed is the answer and positioning. Martinez is good at what he does but Floyd is exceptional. He will work him out and have his nose infront. The longer it goes the more desperate Sergio becomes and he will be the one who has to take the risks which plays into Floyds hands.
