    Default Vigin V+ HD box

Ordered one before the world cup so I can see the freckles on Wayne Rooney.

£30 installation, it took him 2 minutes to do that, theiving gits.

Sky have also bought Virgin, surely that must be illegal.

I was going to go with Virgin but they didn't do Sky Sports HD which for me defeated the purpose (at the time anyway).

Thing is with HD, after a while you just get used to it and it no longer amazes you. It just makes it extra shit when you have to watch footy in standard definition.

Don't like to be pedantic, but they haven't bought Virgin - they have just bought four channels off of them and giving them a longer lease to keep showing Sky channels:

SKY TV is minutes away from an agreement to purchase four major TV channels from Virgin Media. As part of the agreement to buy these four channels for over 300 Million Pounds SKY TV will grant Virgin Media a long term carriage lease of the viewing. Basically this move comes as part of what appears to be a continued cooperative truce between SKY TV and Virgin Media in which SKY takes over the management and profitability of TV packages and Virgin wins the profit from home broadband. This would seem just as well, for each has an advantage over the other in their respective venues.

Short of a merger, such cooperation between satellite and cable TV providers seems the best way to compete with telecoms king BT. BT still manages to control the lion’s share of home phone and broadband customers in the United Kingdom and holds those customers long term by offering great deals for unlimited broadband, cheap phone calls and free television (through their BT Vision channels).

The four channels being sold are Virgin 1, Living, Bravo and Challenge. Media entertainment channel Virgin 1 may be a casualty of the sale as it probably will not fit well within the SKY playlist. Neither SKY TV nor Virgin Media was willing to comment with a sale pending. One facet of the arrangement of interest is that Virgin Media has been showing excellent TV customer base growth over the last fiscal quarter. It would seem an odd time for retrenchment.
Out of interest mate, why didn't you go with Sky?

Virgin is fucking shite, slow takes about 10 minutes for it to come on when you switch it on, whole set up is shite, when I move am going back with Sky, also if you have it another room and you don't use it that often the cheeky cunts turn channels off over the last 18 months must of had about £80 refund, just because I go in the other room to watch the boxing for instance and it comes up " this channel is not part of your package " The whole company and service is shocking.

Changing channels and the (non) responsiveness of the remote is what drives me crazy whenever I'm at my mum's house, who has it. Told her she NEEDS to get Sky.

How bad is it mate!!!!!!!!!! First is you have all the power turned off, you come in and it takes a good ten minutes for the whole thing to come on, happened for the Mitchell Katsidis fight was out rushed home was sat there like a cunt waiting for the fucking thing to respond was fuming missed the first two rounds, don't get me started with the shitty remote takes another ten minutes just to flick channels.

To be fair to Virgin their internet is probably the best on the market and the on demand stuff is good - especially the music. Once your choice actually loads up.

I got virgin cable tv, telephone and internet so as a bundle it is 3 for £30 a month just calls on top so it works out significantly cheaper than Sky who once they know I am with Vigin know they cannot compete.

The Virgin technology is shite put for that price it is worth the hassle, I just turn it off from the plug if it messes up.

Also now can record the boxing late at night on channel 5 and watch it at a sensible hour. Eurosport HD channel show more boxing too.

I have recorded boxing on it Gamboa is on now on Eurosport and ESPN have old UK fights at 11. Now I do not have to stay up and flick through the adverts. What a marvelous invention.

Setanta was the dogs bollocks for boxing every big fight on live, that will never happen again.

ESPN do shoe their Friday Night Fights which is good and showing vintage British boxing from the
    1980's
