Default I tried to cook myself last night!

I had a mad night on the town last night. I first of all had an argument with my wife because I tried downloading those Horizon documentaries again and the computer has once again died. It wasn't my fault though. The computer said it had 50GB of memory remaining, so I thought 'let's be safe and only download half of that'. One day later I had all my documentaries, but then the computer refused to start up again. So, I was in the doghouse for that. I protested my innocence in the matter, but she was having none of it and went into one of her rages as she was unable to watch her drama due to constantly trying to get the last word in. After deflecting most of the punches with my best Floyd Mayweather shoulder roll I said "Fuck this, I am going out!". She even tried to mess my hair up and then locked me out. I was now homeless too. All fun and games in the world of miles!

And so I was off out with no idea where to go nor what to do. I had not arranged anything so had to go for a night out on my own. I got in a taxi and went downtown. It was only about 6pm and was a bit early to drink so I went to a PC room and wrote up a very entertaining account of the actual argument I had, but the bastard computer wouldn't let me post anything. I frittered away a couple of hours and then realised that I had a thirst. I went to the Wa-bar as I thought I might bump into some foreign company. It was pretty busy, but alas no people who could speak my language. I stayed at the bar drinking beer and eventually got chatting to a Korean guy who spoke pretty good English. We discussed all sorts of things, but distinctly recall us going through our reasons why we don't like Metallica. Good stuff. He works at the DMZ zone and has offered me a discounted visit whenever I want to pop up. I turned to the whisky and coke and finally a foreign person came in, but it was a girl and generally speaking I find it hard to talk to women I don't know. I am actually quite a shy person. Plus she was American.

I then moved on to another bar that I used to know, but it was completely dead. The bar staff were really friendly though and one spoke pretty good English. We talked about corrupt Korean presidents for about 20 minutes which was quite nice. I couldn't stay there as the whisky and coke was too pricey. About 12 US dollars. Admittedly it was a strong concoction, but ten of those can make you bankrupt.

And so I moved on to Bar Nana in the faint hope that I might find a familiar face. And I did! Mr Oh was there and he is always really friendly and I also met an old Philipino friend who used to play in a band several years back. I also met some student from Saudi Arabia. He kept trying to cheat at pool, so I found him a bit annoying in the end. I had been drinking beer and whisky for several hours and was really struggling with the pool, it didn't help that I hadn't played in about a year.

In the end we all went to a barbecued pork restaurant and drank soju. That stuff is toxic, but when you are drunk you just can't say no. I eventually tottered off to the bathroom and then on the way back to our table tripped on a step and on trying to balance myself put my hand right on the middle of the barbecue grill. I could practically smell my flesh cooking and it was extremely painful. And so that is how I cooked myself. Today my finger tips have blistered up and typing this doesn't feel so nice. The skin is all leathery. Quite messed up.

I finished the night in a park at 4am with a load of other drunk people. I think I was debating something with a bunch of university students who really didn't speak much English. I recall being there quite a while and eventually decided to try and go home at the break of dawn. Luckily for me, my key worked okay.

And so a day in bed and the silent treatment at home. I went out for dinner at McDonalds and I'm now back in a PC room trying to kill some time whence this rather rambling and pointless posting.

Have any of you done anything stupid whilst drunk? I think trying to cook my hand was one of the more stupid things I have attempted to do.

Good stuff bro. Anyways why not go to one of those pc shops and hire someone to custom built the pc you want? For about $800 USD you can have a kick ass PC that would last anywhere between 4-6 years, well in America anyways I don't know about in Korea.

Funny thing is, I"m not a drinker at all and I've never been drunk in my life. Although I did drink here and there occasionally in my university days but the most was 7 Coronas and just got a little buzz.

Hey I"ve noticed something, you're not complaining about Israel for once!

After nearly being cooked, I suspect he's had a revelation and anticipate a switch to Judaism in his near future! (just messin miles...relax!)

Sounds like a fun night, imo. Few battle wounds as is normally the case witha night to remember.

I surprised you admitted you tripped, I expected something like "Some lousy jew pushed me in the back and I fell on the grill"

miles your good deed for the day is done, this has been very amusing to me. And remember because of times like this it never hurts to keep a little vicodin around

Me and the mrs had a blazing row whilst pissed last night. Over nothing too.

    I punched a wall a few times.

Luckily the row only lasted a couple of hours then we got down to the make up sex!

I love how Miles storming out for a wild night on the town involves looking for strangers to talk politics to

I had a great vision then of the Korean natives where Miles lives being like meerkats, who despite speaking no English are still terrified of Miles and when one of them sees him coming he immediately springs up and warns the others shouting 'Chomsky Chomsky!!' and the building is quickly evacuated as hundreds of little yellow brown men flee down back alleys and through trapdoors, leaving Miles to arrive at another deserted bar with only a single foreigner for company.

I'm definitely going to do a bit of research on the topic. The trouble right now is that I have no idea about what is good or what is not. I would have no idea if I am being ripped off or not. But I definitely don't want to be hanging around in these PC rooms drinking cheap coffee everyday.

These days I don't drink so much. In the last month I haven't done much drinking at all because of the flu and a generally weak body, but after a row I just have to get out of the house. I just cannot deal with it and also having no computer means that I feel trapped with nowhere to go. The only place to go to is a bar and a few beers for company.

I hate arguments, but more so with my wife as she likes to make it physical. I can deal with a good back and forth argument, but when the person resorts to hitting it just becomes too much. I would never dream of hitting her, so I have no idea what gives her the right to hit me. Hitting me and then throwing things about in a rage. It is a very Korean type of response. Totally child like and exhibiting a total lack of self control. They like to rage then destroy and then fester in silence for several days and then expect everything to be back to normal.

Yes, on the whole it was a pretty fair night. It was quite different to be going out all on my own, but I was glad I found some company in the end. Korea can be a lonely place. If you don't make plans you are going to have a difficult time finding anyone to interact with.

The burnt finger was unfortunate, but it was a good thing I was drunk as it would have hurt even more. Or maybe better still, if I wasn't drunk then I wouldn't have burned myself!

I did the punching a wall thing a few years back and think I started a thread about it. I have very pretty Calzaghe-esque hands and they damage very easily, so I have quit with doing that.

I guess you never married a Korean, the row is usually followed by silence for several days. I don't care though, it is her problem. I really don't see how I did anything wrong. She chose the computer, it has always been shit and I would like to watch documentaries. Why is it my fault that the computer cannot handle anything? To hell with it.

That made me smile. Good stuff.

The strange thing was that the bartender for some reason asked me what I think of the current president. And so I gave him my honest answer and that led to discussion about previous presidents. Honestly, I would have been happy enough to talk about anything. But if someone is going to give me that kind of platform I am definitely going to indulge them with my honest views.
