Do you mean Ortiz? He has only had one fight at 147, 154 is way too heavy for him at this point. I'd pick Alvarez to stop him.

Ortiz has plenty to keep him busy at welterweight, it doesn't make sense for him to move up to another weight class. Hypothetically, i'd say talent/skill wise, Vic and Saul would match up pretty good, and a fight would be very competitive. Maybe it will happen a couple years from now.

I might be in the minority, but I think Alvarez - Mayorga would be a good fight and a very solid test for Alvarez. I'd expect him to stop Mayorga, but his chin would get tested along the way.

It would be fun hearing Mayorga talk trash to Alvarez, he'd probably call him a redheaded albóndiga puta or some such shit, Mayorga is very creative.. I believe Alvarez would absolutely destroy Mayorga at this late stage of his career, but it would still be an entertaining fight while it lasted.

Even though Ortiz weighed 161 in the ring when he fought Berto, he just got to 147. Alvarez says he can make 147, but he probably can't. Hell, Alvarez didn't make weight against Hatton and that weight was 151 I believe.

Alvarez will be fighting guys at 154 from here on. He and Ortiz aren't going to tangle because of the weight difference. Also, it doesn't make much business sense (if you managed Canelo, would you dare put him in with anyone good until you had to?).

Mayorga would likely beat either, as he is too much too soon.

But after his heartbreaking loss to Cotto, I dunno if I wanna see him fight again.

    He retired, remember.

Isn't he broke though? Kicking ass is pretty much the only thing the dude is qualified to do.

I think Alvarez will have his hands full with a sturdy sharp hitter eventually, a mover off solid jab could give him shit fits. For as much as Ortiz has rebounded he's just not that sturdy, gets caught off wide shots that are not set up and Alvarez would make it very very physical and I think be too strong.

I really doubt that as there is a monumental difference between Alvarez at this stage and Miguel Cotto.

But, hell Mayorga could get himself KO'd in the 12th round a 3rd time.

    Unlucky bastard.
