I think the gap between what his talent might have allowed and what he has actually accomplished is a lot wider for Floyd at this point.

floyd is someone who people will look back on and say "guess we'll never know how good he really was", kinda like the way they say that about Marciano. I wish Marciano had fought atleast 2 more times, maybe Patterson and maybe some other top contender.
In the same way, floyd will suffer when people ask "why didnt he fight pac?" or a few other top contenders. he just isnt that motivated to fight. he doesnt love fighting the way some fighters love it. His nickname says it all "money". its all he cares about. AND HISTORY WILL REMEMBER THAT.
yep - Pac has little more (if anything) to prove now regarding his greatness. Floyd still does and to my mind is just protecting his 0 (though there are the legal issues he has for sure)
We never saw Floyd really tested - and when there was a chance of a proper test he duked it. Thats how I will remember him if it doesn't happen.
by the way - don't be thinking I have it in for PBF, at the start of all this I 90% blamed Manny for this not happening.
Don't bully fat kids - they've got enough on their plate
Floyd would be considered "exposed" if he lost to Pacquaio, as he really suffers from a lack of quality wins.
The man's best victories are over Diego Corrales, Castillo, Hatton, Oscar, Judah, and an aging Mosley.
Pacqauios best wins are over Barrera, Morales, Marquez, Oscar, Hatton, Cotto, Margarito, and an aging Mosley.
With all their common foes, Pacquaio's victories have been FAR more impressive and emphatic, however Floyd beat them FIRST.
If Pacquaio were to lose to Floyd, presumably by being outpointed, we would forgive it because hell look how many tough great fighters Pacqauio already beat the living hell out of.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"
it's not a matter of more, they both suffer.
For what it's worth, i'd say Pacquiao's "legend" is already etched in stone, whereas Mayweather's legend is still being written. In other-words at this point in his career, Manny doesn't need a fight with Mayweather to ensure his legacy and place with boxing fans. Mayweather's Legend on the other hand, (who claims he doesn't care about legacy) will definitely suffer if he doesn't fight Pacquiao. I also believe that at this point, most boxing fans are blaming Mayweather for the fight with Pacquiao not happening.
I reckon it's really the fans who want to see this fight who suffer the most, personally I could give a shit less if they ever fight, i've totally lost interest in seeing it.

neither. If you like floyd now you'll like him later. If you hate him now, you'll still hate him later. Same with pac. Just like every big fight that never happens, people have short memories. It'll be brought up from time to time, but life will go on. For those that discredit either guy, they could go in the woods trap bigfoot fight and beat his ass and those people will still find bad things to say about them. It's my opinion and mine only but i think all the legend talk and status is a bunch of crap anyway. Most of those so called greats who spilled thier blood to impress fans are broke and forgotten. For the most part these guys fight for money, and i can't really blame them. These guys talk like the fighters of old.....but the game is no where near the same. You don't have to fight for a belt these days you can cherry pick and damn near buy one. And it's no one fighter. They all do

a fighter's legend doesn't suffer from not having fought someone. the fighter's legend just doesn't rise to the hight that it could have... then people talk about potential v. accomplishments. it becomes speculation.
what makes a fighter's legend is how hard and far they push themselves in the face of adversity.
if you don't push yourself it doesn't make you any worse... it just doesn't make you as great as others who strive to be their best.
Pac took risks. Floyd didn't.
Pac has been fighting at 147 while weighing only 148 pounds when he gets in the ring on fightnight. Every guy he faces outweighs him significantly. And they haven't been chumps: Clottey, Cotto, Margarito, ODH, and Mosley, are some of the best fighters at the weight in the past decade (even if some were clearly past their prime).
And Pac faced better competition below 147.
Floyd meanwhile takes no risks. He never faced Cotto, PW, Margarito, Cintron, Margarito, or clottey. He probably beats them all, but that would have involved fighting (which he seems allergic to).
I'd favor him over Pac, but he doesn't seem to want the fight. Floyd is a great waste of talent.
To me, neither. But the appearance will be that Floyd talked himself out of the fight with the drug tests. While Manny, won in a lot of weight divisions. Also he joins three fighters who I rank higher all time than floyd anyhow. (SSR SRL RJJ) those that won fighter of the decade. Manny has been fighting, floyd hasn't. If he comes back and beats pac thoroughly many will say there's a reason Pac was protected from a certain style his entire career. Just like Dempsey isn't totally respected because chose not to face black fighters.
