Default Saul Alvarez to fight Alfonso Gomez

They are putting this up as a co-ppv card with Mayweather vs Ortiz and Morales vs Corolla in the Staples Center. The Vegas venue fights are on the big screen while Alvarez is on the live card. The tickets start at $50 so they are cheaper than the PPV. IT's going to keep the last minute CC buyers from having to make a trip to Vegas. I can't say a bright move by golden boy but they are the experts so I guess we'll see.

I didn't see Gomez fight so I did a quick look:

I expect this to be a really exciting, fan friendly fight. Gomez might be a little small but Hatton was able to take Alvarez's power so I expect Gomez to put up a spirited effort.

His wars with Feliciano were great fun to watch and he's proved himself capable of beating B level opposition consistently and beating faded stars like Gatti and Castillo.

None were as big as Alvarez whose physical strength might be too much.

I expect it to be a long distance fight and possibly a real slugfest. Gomez will trade for sure.

Gomez actually has improved quite a bit since his last loss which was the TKO against Cotto in 2008, he even pulled off a pretty impressive win against Karass on the undercard of the Cotto/Pacquiao card, his record isn't that bad only 4 losses all to recognizable opposition (Ishe Smith, Jesse Feliciano who he later drew with in the rematch, Manfred Jr who he also holds a win over, and well Cotto), lets not forget that he was able to hang with the lower level guys at 160 for a while, so unless Alvarez really turns it up early he could very well go the distance, should be a fun fight but Alvarez is the stronger younger bull and IMO Gomez will just walk into shots and get broken down
