Default Floyd Camp hints Pacman Clash on May 5, 2012

Ben Thompson of FH was talking to Arum, Ariza, Roach and pacman himself and now he had the opportunity to send the messages over to Floyd's camp -- Ellerbe in particular. Here what he posted on his blog:

Seems their making progress now. They even got the date.

FIGHTHYPE \\ LEONARD ELLERBE: "TEAM MAYWEATHER IS LOOKING TO MAKE THE BIGGEST FIGHT POSSIBLE AND EVERYONE KNOWS WHAT THAT FIGHT IS"

FIGHTHYPE \\ MAYWEATHER PLANS MAY 5 RETURN; WANTS "BIGGEST FIGHT POSSIBLE" AGAINST PACQUIAO

    That will be funny

Is Floyd trying to start the mind games already? In hopes that Pacman start thinking about Mayweather instead of JMM?

I'll believe it when the fight is signed. I'm past caring about hype for this never materialising fight.

Hopefully Marquez knocks out Pac and we are done with this monotony.

It won't happen. Also y'all think that jm will have enough speed and power to ko PAC at that weight? The same PAC who has proven over and over again that he has a chin?

It's not Marquez'z speed that has ever caused Pac trouble, it's his timing and skill, the same things that Mayweather has over Pac!

No, you are confused. Manny likely has testicles the size of raisin's, Floyd according to all statistical reference points might be better off.

This was posted to ESPN last night as well. The Pacman fight will be competitive for about 5-6 rounds. I see it going to a one sided fight after that. It will be interesting to see if JMM can stay on his feet the whole time though. Something he hasn't been able to do against Manny yet.

    Or Mayweather and Katsidis.

Out of Marquez and Pacquiao, it will be Pacquiao whos age will effect him more because he doesnt have the skills that can carry Marquez amongst the sports best at 38. If he suddenly slows down a little, Marquez WILL take advantage. Look at his last few opponents, none of them have the skill to counter speed, so we wouldnt have seen the evidence of him slowing down if he has. He may just get a shock suddenly up against a man who has an answer for everything he does and doesnt just want to touch gloves all night, or put up the ear muff defence or be a walking punch bag.

Does this mean that you'll give Pacquiao credit after he beats Marquez?

I'm hoping that all this talk on 24/7 about carrying Marquez's 'lightweight handspeed' up to welterweight is not just that. If Marquez is as slow as he was against Mayweather he's giving himself a very small chance. Then again, he did manage to hit Mayweather on the counter at times, which was very impressive, considering he was the much smaller, slower man, and has much more rigid footwork (plus the fact Mayweather is easily the most elusive man in the sport currently). Manny's lateral movement has improved since the last time they fought, BUT I have a feeling Pac will be drawn into a shootout, which gives Marquez the chance to outbox him the way he did during the first two fights. If he can draw Pac into a war and counter him, and stay on his feet, only the most horrific robbery could take the fight from him, because in boxing terms they are nowhere near being equals. My main concern is that JMM is gonna be slow and bloated at welterweight and Manny will just hit him coming in and out all night - which is of course, also, Roach's biggest hope, and he's rarely wrong when it comes to judging whether a fighter will be effective in certain circumstances. Praying I'm wrong though, would love nothing more than to see Marquez finally get the win he deserves against Pac.

    Why wouldnt I?

Are you a pinoy because that sounds like the shite they come out with. As if everyones against the Phillipines if someone so much as criticises a boxer! Iv pointed out that Mannys last few opponents were there to be hit and arent known for their boxing skill.

Manny is a much better and smarter fighter now. Wasn't his last opponent Mosely? Correct me if I'm wrong but if anyone can counter someone its mosely. He caught Mayweather a few times. I think Manny is just about the only man who didn't get rocked by Mosely, and put mosely on his behind in the same fight. Well, almost the only one. All this talk about JMM MAYBE winning is hope. About as much hope as Ortiz had against Mayweather. No way Manny loses this fight. I'm a little tired of JMM whining all the time about those two fights. Stay on your feet and off your butt and you wouldn't have anything to worry about. Please pac, shut him up. Its getting sad.
