I think that is a backwards step for now Burns he needs to push on and mix it with the best at 135 now. He has shown that he has potential in the weight class and should move onwards. The fight with Arthur was over 5 years ago and Burns has moved on since then. Arthur has done nothing for years, I dont think he deserves a shot. Suppose Burns it would be good to avenge the loss, but no doubt he would win now. I think Burns should go stateside and fight some big names.

Agreed, Burns needs to continue with his momentum. I wouldn't mind seeing him in with Mitchell or Rees, failing that he should target someone like DeMarco or Vasquez

I was at Alex's last fight and, much as it was good to see him back to winning ways, he wouldnae get close to Burns nowadays. Would be a one sided affair with Arthur getting more and more frustrated as he got hit without reply.
Burns has a few good big fights in him, and domestics shouldn't be on the table whilst he is on the rise.

I wouldn't mind a Mitchell fight because they are both world rated. It would surely settle who is the best domestic lightweight and would surely be an exciting contest. I don't think Rees would be a good option for Burns at the moment in time, although a more respectable opponent than Arthur I just think Burns would be wasting time fighting him. He won't make a lot off a Rees fight and imagine if he lost? Would be a major set back. Mitchell would be a very good name on Burns' record if he could get by.

burns v arthur would probly be a decent money spinner

i honestly cant see arthur winning the fight but its risky for burns, arthur has convincingly outpointed him before

I was a fan of Alex, but his time has gone and the only reason he is getting the opportunity is because he beat Burns many years ago and they are both Scottish. Burns should go onto bigger and better things but it does make commercial sense for him to fight him and clear up his record.

DeMarco or Vasquez gets him a belt so i think that is the way to go. Would dearly love to see more unifications at all weights.

He was talking unification at 130 before his sudden move up, said he wanted that ring belt.

fightnews says Arthur wanted to fight the winner of Burns/Katsidis but he can no longer make 135. He says the reason he lost to cook in the first place was due to not being able to make the weight and he no longer wants to make that mistake. Fair enough reason to be honest, but he wouldnt beat Burns anyway so it doesnt matter.

Alex Arthur has said that he just cannot make lightweight and therefore has ruled himself out of a rematch with Burns.
