Default Wild - the WEIGHT favored Marquez

One thing no one expected, the weight actually FAVORED Marquez. Marquez outweighed Manny the night of the fight 150-148 and it HELPED. Marquez handled Pacquiao's punches MUCH better than he had in the past and the NEW POWER in his punches kept Pacquiao off of him. He looked very big last night compared to Manny. A bigger Marquez was even tougher for Pacquiao. Marquez looked much better than he had at 135 against Kastidis.

When you don't have to dehydrate yourself and not eat to make weight, it doesn't help a fighter's chin.

Alot of guys who have had chin issues have shown better chins when they move up and stop having to cut weight for weigh ins.

He looked the best he's looked in a long time! He has so many available options now at that weight. How about Marquez v. Cotto at 150? Big Money Fight. How about Pacquiao again? How about Marquez v. Bradley? How about Marquez v. Ortiz? Marquez v. Berto?

I don't think anyone should even be contradicting you in here.

You made the call that it will be a close fight when almost everyone else thinks that Pacquiao will dominate Marquez. Good call.

It was just shocking to see how good Marquez looked at that weight given how many people said he would be at such a disadvantage there.

Would this version of Marquez have given Mayweather a close fight? I don't think so. JMM's style does not match up well with Floyd. Whereas Marquez' style will always be a nightmare for Manny.

This fight appears to show that Marquez can be competitive in that weight class even at his age and it made Pacquiao look mortal again.

"Be competitive" He is more than that. I think he beats a lot of people at this weight. Marquez is GREAT at this weight. He arguably was BETTER than Pacquiao at this weight. I always said: no shame in losing to Mayweather. He is a great. It didn't mean Marquez couldn't be effective at 145.

He looked good at the weigh in... I think Roach was planning on the 140+ fighter who showed up against floyd.

What do people think would have happened if it was pac coming down and not jmm coming up?

In retrospect, the fights at the lower weights probably favored Pacquiao because he could hurt Marquez whereas he couldn't hurt Marquez at welterweight. I sort of want to see Cotto v. Marquez at 147-150. That's a war.

Would be a great fight now, maybe not so good after Marg beats him again though.

I hope Cotto targets that eye socket. I dont give him much hope, if it goes into a real war when heart has to be relied on Marg will go even harder where as Cottos already stated he will head home.

If somehow Cotto could escape the Margarito fight with a win and without taking in too much punishment, Cotto v. Marquez at 150 would be a great boxing match.
