Default Two of the many stupid things Margarito said tonight..........

Stupid comment #1: "Miguel hits like a girl."

Must've been a REAL BIG girl, dipshit. Beat the crap out of you. So I guess that just proves that Margacheato isn't even good enough to beat someone who "hits like a girl". He was probably only seeing half a girl anyway.... 'cause his eye was swollen shut.

Stupid comment #2: "They should've let me go on.... this is where Miguel gets tired."

It was the end of the 9th round.... and Miguel was still on his toes, moving laterally, raining punches on Margacheato's head. He was showing no signs of slowing down. Three more rounds would've only gotten Margacheato more punishment, and possibly a devastating KO. On second thought, too bad they stopped it.... I wanted to see Margacheato on the ground.

Thinking back to the first fight... it was actually two different fights. Up to the 6th round, Miguel had it all his own way, hitting Margacheato at will. But from the 7th round on, once Margacheato started bludgeoning Miguel with his plaster wraps, things changed almost immediately. Miguel's face became busted up something fierce. He had been cut before, but nothing like this. Looking back, it's obvious at least to me that Margacheato had a little "something extra" on his side.

Like none other than Freddie Roach was quoted as saying about Margacheato, he should've been banned for life. It's a disgrace that he was allowed to fight for a title again. But he got what he deserved, even though I wanted him to receive more punishment.

He should do himself a favor now and just retire.

If Margarito disregards Cotto's power then fair enough. Cotto was able to target an already screwed up eye. I'm sure the eye would fold against anyone at this stage.

I also think Margarito is right in stating that Cotto fades down the stretch. It has happened in most of his big fights.

There is nothing controversial or particularly stupid in Margarito's comments.

I gotta be honest, i found myself hoping that Tony would catch up to Cotto and put a beating on him... Sounds awful but God damn Cotto planted his feet like 6 times the whole fight, you would of fought he was fighting some one 4 weightclasses up from him. Dunno just wound me up a little with all that jogging he was doing.

You are cruel because that was the only way Cotto would win by using his speed and boxing skills.

What was he supposed to do? Stand and trade with the naturally bigger man? Is boxing not the sport of "hitting without getting hit"? Do you not appreciate a good boxer doing his work? What about all the other boxers you've probably defended over the years? What's so different about Cotto? Or do you only appreciate all-out brawls as boxing?

Margarito is not 4 weightclasses up from Cotto. But he is a natural 154 who can easily move up to 160 with his frame. Cotto's best suited weight is really 147, and that's where the first fight was fought. And for having only "planted his feet like 6 times the whole fight", he sure did a lot damage to Margacheato's face.

Margacheato has a good chin... there's no question about that. But to see him after the fight with his eye shut and his face swollen and still ranting about Cotto hitting like a girl was plain laughable.

I also think Margarito is right in stating that Cotto fades down the stretch. It has happened in most of his big fights. Well....... it was already the 10th round and Cotto hadn't faded, had he? Margacheato stupidly uttered they were protecting Cotto when they stopped the fight. Is he for real? Is he really that much of a moron? They were protecting the CHEATER!

There is nothing controversial or particularly stupid in Margarito's comments.

Whatever. I'm just so happy there was none of the usual post-fight "kiss and make up" shenanigans in the ring. Cotto just stared him down like the cheating scumbag he is.

    Sweet.

Cotto had taken Margarito's "best shot" and gave him 4 solid punches in return, he wasn't slowing down at all, and his stamina has been superb in his last 3 bouts, so you can through that fading down the stretch bit out the window, Margarito's ego took a hit, cause his ass was handed to him by a guy who he say's hits like a girl, where was Tony's devastating punching power? nowhere to be found, stat's speak for themselves and the biggest one is that Margarito is now 1-3 since being caught with the plaster wraps, don't really see how no one can acknowledge it

Margarito got closer to Cotto in the last couple of rounds (even as he couldn't see) but Cotto seemed more willing to trade with him. It was as if Cotto felt Margarito's power and knew he wasn't going to get destroyed. Yes, after trading a few times in the last few rounds, Cotto went back to boxing (as that is still the smart thing to do). Fight was stopped at beginning of round 10. I think by end of round 11, Cotto would have started going onto the front foot and trying to really put a hurting on Margarito. I believe the eye being completely shut robbed him of that.

Great point. I was pointing this out to some of the Margarito supporters I know and they refused to acknowledge this as suspicious. I mean the guy has never went 4 fights in a row without a KO let alone looking like crap with little power now and getting stopped on 2 of those 4 fights. And he was brutally beaten in the Pac fight. I posed this question to the guys I know...Before he got caught with plaster Margarito was brutally hurting most fighters and was once labeled the most feared/avoided fighter in boxing. Margarito still applies the same pressure why is it that he is not hurting anyone anymore?

Your comment is right on, as well as Roach's suggestion for Margarito being banned for life (even jail would've been great for punishment and for the sport) Let's stop speculations about him cheating in other fights, HE CHEATED THROUGHOUT HIS CAREER, believe me you can't beat great fighters with mediocre skills like Margarito....I always wondered how he did it, I am an ex-boxer, I have never seen somebody so easy to hit as margarito, you cannot be a champion like that, he is just a journeyman that cheated his way to the championship, I am mexican and I feel he is a disgrace for us and for the sport in general, shame also to promoters that know exactly the kind of trash margarito has been. period.

I'd like to see a source for that. Not that i don't believe you but I remember reading that Mosley was also 'suprised by the lack of pop' in Cotto's punches.

Margarito’s a cheater of criminal proportions. Good riddance. There’s no way to know how much a price, if any, Cotto paid in terms of permanent damage to his boxing ability…but I’m thankful he had enough left to extract this revenge. I find it hard to understand those who can’t feel some joy for the guy. And I’m otherwise indifferent to Cotto.

As a sidepoint, PBF has great instincts. Magarito, along with Mosely and Pac, are the 3 biggest examples his distractors use as evidence that he ducks. 2 of the 3 are proven cheaters. I’m not saying Pac is juicing but I believe PBF genuinely believes he is.

It's a video interview, he mentions cotto's speed is deceptive and at around 2.45 he mentions cotto hit him harder than margarito did
