    Default Team Khan withdraws appeal

Ex-champ Khan withdraws appeal of December loss - Boxing - Yahoo! Sports

Why would he complain so much about the loss then out of nowhere just drop it so suddenly ? My thoughts were to jump to the conclusion that he possible got a contract for a big fight possibly with Mayweather?

    Thoughts?

Well last I heard the wba had ordered a rematch vs peterson.. But I never saw nothing about them actually scheduled to fight. I don't know, I highly doubt mayweather would pick Khan over Canelo on cinco de mayo. But who knows.. Maybe he realized it was too much hassle? Or that he had a shit case lol.

Someone on his facebook page is claiming that he's secretly signed to fight Floyd on May 5th.

This is all well and good, but I thought he was appealing for the good of boxing, and to clean up the integrity of the sport.

Abandoning your appeal because you have privately negotiated a better deal seems almost as corrupt as the things he's complaining about.

I agree that it makes him look bad for complaining so much then just dropping everything and allegedly signing to fight Floyd. But now how does Amir fair against Floyd?

Well I think he gets beat, but I do believe he's one of the best possible opponents because his speed will make the fight interesting.

Floyd had trouble with Zab early and Amir may get off to a good start. He will need to because the second half of the fight will likely be all Floyd.

I reckon he will surprise everyone by going the distance and winning 4 rounds.

I would be pretty annoyed with all of the bitching that Khan did that he would drop it that really doesnt make sense. He does not deserve a mayweather showdown at all and if he does get one that pretty shit IMO.

I wrote after the Peterson loss that he would most likely avoid a Peterson rematch as irrelevant and instead chase a top name. He's one of the biggest money men in the division which is why Floyd is so keen to fight him. Looks likely it will happen anyway. I thought he'd need to fight and beat Marquez first but an immediate fight with Floyd is hardly atypical for boxing, where the money fights are made regardless.

While I think PBF - Khan could make for a good fight, Mayweather would get absolutely raked over the coals if he takes Khan as his next opponent.

Little late after he's been given rematch but I get it. He can ride controversy of Peterson fight and blow it off (frankly Peterson could do same) but he's already put his foot in his mouth...kind of the boy that cried wolf. Most likely he's had mention of much larger name fight. A fighter wants options, but if this if a Mayweather option Khan will get hit on like a shiney upright nail all night.

Although I like this fight better than the other names being thrown around, it's the wrong time.

Khan is coming off a loss and is unproven at Welter. He needs to step up in weight against decent opposition (someone like Ortiz would be a good fight) and win so that he gives people no excuses when he wins.

Khan is a young, hungry fighter but he needs to get back on winning terms..too soon

Think you guys are putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5 with this Floyd stuff.

The WBA have ordered a rematch. So if Peterson doesn't rematch him they'll strip him and Khan will fight for the vacant title. Hope it's as dramatic as you lot think though.

Hard to tell what they're playing at. From Peterson's point of view he's been after a rematch with Tim Bradley for a while and if he skips the WBA-ordered rematch, relinquishes that belt and keeps the IBF belt, you can see Bradley being interested, especially since he dominated Peterson in their first fight. This would probably be pretty lucrative financially as well, and the 50-50 terms proposed by Golden Boy in their press release are hardly likely to make him jump considering Peterson is champ and Khan is challenger.
Personally I think Khan would win the rematch if he fights the way he should have done in the first fight, but since he seems determined to prove he can take a punch, rather than fighting the smart fight, there's every possibility the rematch will be just as tough for him as the first fight unless Roach can get him to stick to a gameplan. But as stated above, I think they've had a better offer anyway. I think the 50-50 offer is there so they can present Peterson with a less-than-appealing option, hoping he won't take it. That way they can say they made him an offer and he chose not to take it, wash their hands of the whole affair and move on up to welter.
Although I don't know why he's so desperate to get into possibly the most talented division in boxing so quickly, especially calling out the biggest names in that division, when he no experience of fighting at that weight or in the same league as half the fighters there. If he can't score a decisive victory over Peterson I don't see what makes him think he can compete with the P4P best in the world.
