Anyway, I am back and feel good. My apocalyptic visions have receded and I am feeling articulate and clear again. I am even posting in response to myself which will make Bilbo angry. It is a good feeling. There is definitely a loony within though and that needs to be caged. Quite definitely. And in terms of Steve Jobs. I have nothing against the guy, he just hasn't had any impact on my life and I don't like corporations that don't respect human rights. It just isn't very nice.

Whitney Houston? That's a strange one. Her music was kind of okay though. I mean you contrast her with someone like Maria Carey and you cannot name a single tune, but Whitney was able to work with people who could write and you do remember them and there were quite a few. I'm an alternative music fan, but out of all those pop dudes she was alright. Michael Jackson too. They had tunes. Justin Timberlake has never had tunes.

You are teasing me. You know your music and I respect that. I would also imagine you know plenty about the world too.

I never said Jobs' life was worth more, I was actually highlighting the fact that you made a big song and dance about him getting an RIP thread, one of your reasons being (and reasons you and others have stated on other threads) that Steve Jobs' (or anybody's) death is no more sad than anybody elses in the world and that millions die each day. I was just making the point that you seem to feel differently about Whitney Houston (and Gary Speed) in that their deaths, for some reason deserve some recognition (even though millions of other people died on those days)

some peoples deaths can be a little bit more sad than others

there was this bird at my school called angela and she was from a rough area of the world and her parents didnt have a lot of money, there was all stories about domestic abuse and stuff like that

at school she was bullied really badly, people constantly calling her names and that. The name she was called the most as i remember was scrubber

i was walking down the road with a friend of mine once and she walked past on the other side of the road and my mate just started abusing her, it was pretty shocking

anyway i recently found out she died of cancer at the age of 17

now thats a sad story, sadder than most, a lot more sad than a rich pop star who lived the high life and had all the things she wanted and just took too many drugs in the end
Officially the only saddo who has had a girlfriend

    No, they are just different.

But your story is very sad.

Death is death no matter what fanfare.

I don't know, these things are all relative and mean more to some than others. I'm not a fan, but don't like it when people die. The only people I am indifferent to are war criminals and Cliff Richard.

If you don't care about your own life, why should you expect others to care? Tens of thousands of people die every year who are far more worthy of being mourned than Whitney Houston, but you won't hear a word about most of them.

I'm already so fucking sick of hearing about her. The media's sanctification of her and her daughter is revolting.

I have no problem with her or with the way she lived her life FWIW. She didn't hurt anybody but herself.

Yes, the media goes overboard when people die. I think Piers Morgan covered it for several days on CNN. Enough already, I want to hear the bat shit Republican guys. They are comedy gold.

I don't care how someone lives their life either. I was recently reading someone say that they didn't like the writings of Jack London because he was a morphine addict. So fucking what? Could he write? That is the question. "Ooh he's a racist, ooh he's a junkie, ooh he shagged a lot". Yes, okay. But could they do what they do and do it well?

It's almost like the media, "friends" and her family are trying to make a martyr out of Houston, which is quite sickening. If it hadn't been for that evil Bobby Brown, Houston would still be a virgin, singing gospel songs with the church choir.

I do feel sorry for her and her family/loved ones, but the same media who spent a decade dragging her through the mud is now enshrining her, it's ridiculous. AND, we also get a bunch of crocodile-tear crying celebrities who likely barely knew her, if at all, talking about how sad they are etc. It's absurd.

Someone has a photo of her in the coffin.

Well, Houston's death shouldn't be much of a shock to anyone, and where were all her family/loved ones when she was still alive and needed them? Under the circumstances wouldn't a nice quiet, dignified funeral have been in order?
